We are so privileged to even be able to say those words and so incredibly lucky to be sleeping in our own beds tonight.
Seeing this place burnt to the ground is unexplainable. There really aren’t words.
For 16 years, this was a place where memories were made with family and friends. Yes, it was just a house. Just stuff. But it held laughter, stories, and so many good times shared with the people we love. And if you share a family holiday home of your own you’ll get it, hopefully.
It was our escape. A little, old, quirky cottage and that’s exactly why we loved it. That’s why it will never be replaceable.
To my dad who poured hundreds of hours into this place. Every weekend, mowing lawns, fixing things, building onto it, making sure it was never neglected at the age of 66, Keeping it a home. This was truly your sanctuary, your place, and my heart breaks knowing it’s gone for you and mum.
To everyone affected by these fires those who have lost lives, livelihoods, farms, and businesses and everything they own my heart can’t even begin to understand the pain and devastation you’re carrying as this doesn’t even scratch the surface to what they would be experiencing.
