This still from rehearsal for The Weight of Thread feels like it captures it all. The momentum and whirl of creating this work which is swelling in our final week and the steadiness asked of each of us throughout the process. Feeling the tingling of tech week as we move closer to sharing this work on Friday! So many questions and much anticipation about what it will feel like to share and also so looking forward to this piece moving into its next stage of being opened up to a greater community. It’s all happening this weekend!

At Dance Mission Theater
The Weight of Thread is a dance ritual rooted in Jewish mourning, supplication and resistance traditions, to reckon with grief, rupture, and solidarity in the shadow of genocide. Through dance, live music, poetry, and collective ritual, the work challenges Zionist definitions of Jewishness while affirming Judaism’s anti-genocidal, humanitarian values and expressing kinship with Palestinian liberation. Audiences are welcomed into an intimate, intergenerational community built through dance, music, food, and shared presence.
