"This combo, founded in 2018 in Liège, Belgium, is once again an original underground treat. Stoner lunatics may have already become aware of MOLDERA in the fall of 2022 through the track "Chilling In Mosul" on the "Trip To Belgium" compilation. Their debut, "Waste Pile Dunes," released in the same year, already contained some incredibly strong songs with catchy names like "Trump Apocalypse" and "Megadoom." The debut album's guitar sound, production, and direction were significantly more sooty, droning, and brittle than the new album, "Colonize." A hypnotic, evocative sludge groove and tons of cool stoner and doom riffs are still omnipresent. The current long player, however, is much more varied, open, and multi-layered in its songwriting. Thus, creative splashes of color can be found time and again, revealing inspiration and influences from bands like Deftones, Isis, or even the darker Alice In Chains. Here and there, clean vocals are used instead of the exclusively sludge screams as before. The compositions, all of which clearly exceed the five-minute mark, take their time to develop. Therefore, not all of the tracks on "Colonize" may fully ignite on the first two or three listens. But MOLDERA are damn good in the long run! In other words, once the listener is gripped by the original sound, they'll definitely find themselves putting this work on rotation more than once in a row. Intense, profound, and introverted music, perfect for single-tasking. Genre fans should definitely give it a listen! And please, a big name in the scene should take these very gifted musicians on tour. "
