I give thanks to God for the mercy He has shown us.
I sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the service chiefs; and all security agencies and other stakeholders for the critical roles they played in ensuring the safe release of the remaining children of St. Mary Catholic School, Papiri.
On behalf of the Government and the good people of Niger State, I congratulate everyone involved on the successful return of these children.
Today, I received the delegation of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF) led by the Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on a solidarity visit to our state over the recent disasters that claimed many lives.
My sincere gratitude to my colleague Governors for the visit as we appreciate President Tinubu, security agencies, top government officials, traditional rulers, and religious leaders amongst others for their continued support to Niger state.
Today, I perform my civic duty and cast my vote at the Tswashagi Rabba Polling Unit of Landzun Ward, Bida LGA, in the ongoing Local Government Elections.
Today, I also paid a condolence visit to the people of Essa, Katcha local government area over the tanker explosion that claimed many lives and left several others injured.
I commiserate with the people over the loss of their loved ones and pray for the quick recovery of the injured who are receiving treatment at various health facilities in Bida and Abuja.
We acknowledged that the roads are bad and we are making efforts to get the fixed. But, it is a terrible thing that a truck will fall, and the people of the community will carry containers to scoop instead of making efforts to rescue the driver and other passengers of the truck. It is theft and must be addressed as such, and we can't condone or encourage it. People should focus on the farming they are known for.
In addition to the free medical services, a support of N1m will be given to families of each of the deceased victims and N500,000 to each of the injured victims receiving treatment.
I attended the Matriculation of the 809 students of Abdulkadir Kure University Minna (AKUM) for the 2024/2025 academic session, where I declared a tuition free education for the students and N100,000 bursary support.
It is not wrong for a leader to make a statement and retract the statement. We had a vision to take some students to foreign land on scholarship, but today, I have cancelled that decision. I would rather invest the money budgeted for the foreign scholarship here in AKUM.
I therefore congratulate the matriculated student, parents and guardian, and the management of the university as we assure them of the 2% of the total investment of the state as endowment for this university.
