What happens when architecture grows around nature instead of replacing it? In this FOAID 2025 session, Manish Gulati (@bubblegumgod of @mofa_studio ) presents the NIFT Kangra campus - a project designed through the ideas of people-centric design, ecological sensitivity, walkability, and contextual architecture. Built on a steep natural site in Himachal Pradesh, the campus was carefully planned around existing trees, contours, waterways, and local patterns of living instead of flattening the land. From preserving mature trees and creating walkable ramps to mapping rainwater channels and building social streets for students, the project shows how architecture can become part of the ecosystem rather than dominate it. Because meaningful architecture is not just about buildings. It is about the life that grows around them. 🎥 Full episode now live on YouTube - Link in bio #FOAID2025 #NIFTKangra #ManishGulati #PeopleCentricDesign #ArchitectureIndia

Fonte d’Amore — A Trevi Fountain in New Delhi He proposed at the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Years later, on a trip to Barcelona, they fell in love with Gaudí — his curves, his oculi, the way his stone seemed to breathe. So when they came home to New Delhi, the husband gave the architect a single sentence: turn our memories into a place to live. What M:OFA Studio built inside a forgotten 645 sq ft courtyard is one of the quietly extraordinary residential interventions in India this decade — a sculpted cream-stone shell pierced by four organic oculi, wrapped around a scaled homage to Rome’s Trevi, finished entirely by the chisels of Delhi master craftsman Shersingh and his team. The process is almost as remarkable as the result. M:OFA generated 200+ AI moodboards to find the form. The artisans translated each iteration in stone, by hand. What should have taken 24 months took 6. And it stays cool without a single AC. The four oculi function as wind catchers; the fountain mist drops perceived temperature by 6–8°C; the stack effect pulls hot air up and out through the ceiling. No mechanical systems. Just air, water, and physics. A wedding gift she walks through every morning. ━━━ PROJECT · Fonte d’Amore LOCATION · New Delhi, India TYPOLOGY · Residential courtyard intervention SITE AREA · 645 sq ft STATUS · Completed TIMELINE · 6 months ARCHITECTURE · M:OFA Studio — @mofa_studio PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT · Manish Gulati DESIGN APPROACH · Parametric form-finding, AI-assisted moodboarding, traditional stone craft CRAFT · Master craftsman Shersingh & team, Delhi STRUCTURE · Steel grid-shell with hand-cut cream sandstone cladding SCULPTURE · Hand-sculpted Trevi Fountain replica, classical bas-reliefs, cherubs COOLING · Passive — 4 oculi wind catchers, fountain evaporative cooling, stack-effect ventilation TEMPERATURE DROP · 6–8°C without mechanical systems LANDSCAPE · Vertical garden, native planting PHOTOGRAPHY · Ekansh Goel — @ekansh_goel CLIENT · Private residence ━━━ Built something worth sharing? The Alcázar draws from the soul of a medieval fortress-town- cobbled pathways, lantern-lit courts, and cloistered passages shaping spaces where the past feels close and alive. A hilltop stronghold shaped as a village in the sky. Terraced roofs, quiet pools, and courtyards woven into one sculpted form. #goa #mofabuilds #medievalarchitecture

Full video. Now live on YouTube. Art doesn’t belong behind glass. It belongs everywhere someone walks. That belief built Eila. @bubblegumgod of @mofa_studio at SHADE - Dialogues XVIII - Synergy. A partnership with Shri RamaShankar Singh that began in 2004 over institutional buildings and conversations about art becoming part of everyday life - not locked in galleries or museums but accessible to anyone who walks through a campus. Yearly workshops with sculptors and artists. Artworks left behind for everyone. And from those conversations, Eila was born in 2007 - Sanskrit for earth. A place where art and architecture merge seamlessly. He brings the art. Gulati brings the architecture. Synergy, two decades in the making. The National Institute of Water Sports, designed by @mofa_studio , translates the energy and fluidity of the ocean into built form along India’s western coastline. The campus was conceived as a national training hub for surfing, sailing, kayaking, and more — but its architecture goes far beyond function. A wave-inspired grid-shell roof, open courtyards that channel the sea breeze, and strong indoor-outdoor connections ensure that students are never far from the force that drives their discipline. Weathered textures, salt-tolerant finishes, passive cooling strategies, and contextual landscaping root the design deeply in its coastal context — where every architectural decision is a response to climate, culture, and the relentless rhythm of the sea. Here, the boundaries between sport, space, and sea blur. A landmark of coastal architecture — and a stage for future explorers. @bubblegumgod of @mofa_studio takes the SHADE stage with EILA: Tree of Life Resort, Naggar — a first-of-its-kind creative collaboration where client Shri RamaShankar Singh provided the vision and created the interiors while architect Manish Gulati provided the form. Both going beyond conventional roles, collaborating at every stage. Biomorphic pods extending like fingers into the Naggar valley. Interiors adorned with hand-picked murals, sculptures, and crafts inspired by the heritage of Kullu and Himachal all done by Shri Singh. An art resort born from synergy - not process, but partnership. Fonte D’Amore, Fountain of Love, began as a wedding gift and became a private universe. In a forgotten Delhi courtyard, a half decade old coin toss at Rome’s Trevi Fountain returns as stone, mist, and memory, turning intimacy into architecture. Manish Gulati (@bubblegumgod ) of @mofa_studio does not imitate history, he translates it. Renaissance order settles at the base of the arches, then loosens into Gaudí like flow, curves that rise and warp like a quiet surrealist dream. AI sketches sparked the language, but the final poetry belongs to the hand, Delhi artist Shersingh carving life back into the algorithm, craft answering code. Step in and the city dissolves. Jasmine threads sunlight into fragrance. Water writes its soft rhythm. Above, oculi open the cocoon to sky, day’s revelation, night’s constellations, until you are no longer in a courtyard, but inside a pause that breathes, cools, and gently teaches you to let go. A Personal Touch by MOFA (@mofa_studio ) reflects Delhi-based Manish Gulati’s (@bubblegumgod ) approach to architecture — playful, engaged, and open-ended, shaped by research, cultural context, and global design thinking. At MOFA, design invites curiosity, challenges assumptions, and evolves with its users. Manish’s chosen luxury is a hand-painted Jim Morrison college T-shirt, now framed on his wall. Inspired decades ago by Aldous Huxley’s line, “There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception,” the T-shirt carries the energy, creativity, and belonging of his formative years. For him, luxury is authenticity and emotional attachment — valuing objects and experiences that gather soul over time, offering longevity, meaning, and a daily moment to reconnect with oneself. #aplusdhomes The fantasy of Rome—think la dolce vita, spontaneous love, and architectural grandeur, has been democratised many times through screens and stories. And Trevi, this baroque masterpiece, has a way of lodging itself in memory, not as a photograph but as a feeling—of water rhythmically cascading over stone, and the yearning of wishes coming true! For one New Delhi couple, this exact feeling became the seed of something extraordinary. A pioneer in parametric and computational design in India, Manish Gulati (@bubblegumgod ) (@mofa_studio ) approached Fonte D’Amore with a simple yet invigorating philosophy: memory is not a photograph. It shifts, layers, and recomposes itself through time. A process that started with AI-generated moodboards translated the couple’s Roman experience into pure architectural language. Read the full story through the link in bio! Photography by Ekansh Goel (@ekansh_goel ) Text by Kashish Kaushal (@kashishkay )

In Kollam, everyday rituals become ecosystems. what begins as a simple rice-flour pattern turns into food for insects, ants, and a quiet act of coexistence. This is where architecture can learn — by mapping behaviors, acknowledging inequities, and designing for non-human ecologies too. Design is no longer just about buildings, it’s about sustaining life systems. #FOAID #FOAID2026 #ArchitectureAndEcology #SustainableDesign #Symbiosis (VernacularWisdom IndianArchitecture NonHumanEcology DesignThinking EcoArchitecture FutureOfArchitecture)
