What a story! Possibly the most incredible one in cycling that I witnessed.
Basically only two friends that like to cycle together, winning @capeepic . The more you learn about them though, the more deserved it becomes. With Lukas quitting racing for 2 years after a difficult time, coming back with a team that was born out of a discontinued pro-contract for Georg. And even before that both sacrificed a lot, to do this sport.
On top of all that, they arrived only on short notice, rented the last available camper in the region and had a support crew of only 1 person. Lukas dad.
And despite all of this, they raced aggressively day by day, trying to get away and make time. Which in the end worked out.
What a pair of legends!
I feel honored to have witnessed this in front of my own eyes and camera everyday, and even get to taste a glass of the winners wine. Hats of to you @georgegger@lksbm@speedcompanyracing
5 cape epics and it's been epic every time.
Big part of that is the people, the people that do a similar job as oneself, it's the event where you meet the most of them. It's a crowd where everyone understands what we do and what it means, which is nice and refreshing.
Anyways, hoping to be back and hoping to meet lots of you guys again! To another 5 epics?
A week of the most challenging conditions, fighting the odds and waking up the next day to ride into battle again.
