Thank you @mdffparkway for being such a special place for Facade to premiere! My top memories: 1. Closing night 2. Facade on the big screen 🫣 3. The doc that had me weeping inconsolably for 45min straight… 4. Pitching my feature to a group of industry panelists 😗 5. @ekibenbaltimore pls come to LA + Mattie’s lovely friends supporting my premiere 6. My lil cousins who’d barge into my room at 8am and jump straight into my bed 7. A few of my fave directors, from some of my fave short films 💐 8. Asked two strangers if people in Baltimore were friendly, they said no, then proceeded to chat w me over eggs and waffles for the rest of the morning 😂 9. I want a dog (he proved I wasn’t ready rip) 10. My biggest takeaway! Ngl I arrived to this festival feeling like “a raisin in the sun”, then left understanding the importance of winter as a creative. So… 11. Thank you so much to the spectacular team that made this all possible!! Thanks to @kristinamaisalegria @gee_thanx_ and all the wonderful programmers and volunteers! I was looking back at the goals I’d written out at the start of the year, and at the top of my list was “to be surrounded by the people I love, and those who love me.” There’s nowhere I felt this more than in the making of FACADE. So many people showed up, from childhood to new friends. And when discussing the film with the cast they brought up a brilliant point—it’s impossible to let your guard down without some sort of support system already in place. A community to fall back on incase things go wrong. So to all the wonderful people that makeup my colorful safety net, I see you and I love you 🤎
