With over 35 types of marble, rich mosaics and extraordinary heritage detailing, it remains one of Australia’s most celebrated hotel bars.
Revitalised by @stacksydney , the space now weaves biophilic design into its historic fabric, balancing grandeur with a renewed sense of warmth and flow.
Modieus carpets and bespoke rugs were specified to complement this evolution, introducing organic forms and layered textures inspired by the natural world.
In the Main Lobby, a hand-tufted rug featuring tree trunk cross-sections anchors the space, while an inset Axminster design in the Lift Lobby echoes the same concentric rhythm.

Inspired by the lucky number eight, rounded interlocking forms flow across the floor and into architectural features, creating a cohesive and immersive design language throughout.
Axminster construction was selected for its premium finish and durability, while the tile format offers installation precision and long-term maintenance flexibility. Felt backing enhances acoustic comfort, contributing to a softer, more welcoming ambience.
