On the 17th of May, @onenightlondon is teaming up with @lucid_sober_events for a sober soirĆ©e! Expect a panel on people’s experiences in sober nightlife, SW and play spaces, a fully equipped (by @filthyfurniture.uk ) play space, a helping of ice cream from @licks.realfruit and a dance floor with @claude_knight dropping all the bangers. @thepureapp will kindly be giving 150 of you your first mocktail on the house - details on how to nab yours are in our emails that go out to verified babes. Booze lets me become the biggest version of myself - loud, on tables, flirty… some would say too much fun. But the anxiety and lack of productivity the next day is crippling. I’m sure many of you can relate to that sentiment… I’ve had long periods of sobriety before (years!) mostly during pregnancy and breastfeeding - so not exactly by choice, but those long periods were always good for my mind. Over the last six months, I’ve made a conscious decision to shift my relationship with drink through choice, not duty. I went fully sober for a while to figure it out, and now I’ve landed somewhere that feels right which is very occasional drinking, at a much lower volume, with more intention. Sobriety doesn’t have to be binary, you can have a version of it that works for you! On those rare occasions I chose to indulge I will make sure to be people I really trust and would want to be with even if I wasn’t drunk! For me, awareness around alcohol - especially in play spaces is paramount. You need to be in control to consent. That’s why this collab with Lucid matters. It’s not about being sober all the time - it’s about mindfulness and awareness. If you usually feel like you need a drink before entering a play space, maybe challenge yourself to try something different. And if you’re already sober? This is going to be a fabulous party. FLINTA only. Tickets via the One Night/Lucid mailing list, you must be verified! Visit onenightparties.com/join-us to sign up! (PS I spilled water on my skirt before filming this silly little video - pretend you can’t see it)

It’s been a non stop week and I’ve only just had a second to pause and reflect on ā€˜One Night In The Archive’. What an evening it was, it was a showcase of S*x Worker talent in every capacity. Thank you @ukfetisharchive , @bishopsgateinstitute @helenawhittingham and @lovermanagement . A special thank you to @hennmg for making sure the evening ran so smoothly and to @bitch.cr4ft for your work for years supporting @onenightlondon - you’re the bloody best! A massive thank you to all the performers, panel and guests. Our community is incredible šŸ’ž More photos from the evening to come from @charlotte.douleur , but here’s two from the evening!

Happy International Women’s Day. Today feels like the right time to acknowledge the SW community. For most of my adult life, these women and their allies have held me up - uplifting me, listening to me, protecting me, and caring for me when it mattered most. ā€œS*x work is the oldest profession in the world.ā€ - Rudyard Kipling, 1888 The representation of s_x work in mainstream media frequently vilifies, sensationalises, or condemns the worker. I document s\x work from a position that is both inside and outside; as participant and voyeur. My interest lies in that liminal space between the beheld and the spectator. A large portion of society views sx workers as always helpless or without autonomy. My work does not attempt to critique or celebrate sex work. Instead, it presents an honest account of workers and their clients. This body of work contains diverse narratives - moments of tenderness, intimacy, transaction, distance, performance and connection. There is no s*x work without the client. Their presence, often invisible in public discourse, is equally part of this ecosystem. I’m interested in their existence, their participation, and the dynamics between worker and client. S-x workers remain marginalised and frequently oppressed. Documenting becomes a way of telling the truth as it is seen: complex, human, and often contradictory. I cannot see a future that is not committed to documenting the histories of sex workers. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my views during the panel at @onenightparties In The @ukfetisharchives , an evening to celebrate SW and FLINTA spaces. The photos in this post are an extremely small + very random (and IG safe) selection from various circumstances!

Thank you to everyone who reported One Night as missing. Another account, maybe, for the ever-growing graveyard of those taken too soon… Existing on the internet as a sx space/SW is relentlessly tiring. It’s demotivating; it means sharing only a fraction of your thoughts and feelings. I could reel off a long list of how censorship affects us all, but I’ve done that more times than I can count. So many of us know this too well - it’s exhausting (and sometimes bloody boring) to keep saying it. Still, I recognise how important it is to keep using our voices to fight the OSA and the rules that directly impact SWs, threatening both our safety and our existence. Freedom doesn’t exist here. That’s why I’m so proud to run a space where (consensual) freedom does exist, outside the bureaucracy of this app. We can be censored and deleted online, but the real-world communities we build will not cease to exist. My priority is the tangible: spaces, art you can touch, hold, or stand before in a gallery; face-to-face connection and interaction. Just an analogue girl caught in a digital world… Photo of me looking grumpy (pretty fitting) by an incredibly important SW voice - and one of my favourite people to ever exist @missangelbella / @the.angels.archive
