🍺 One of the biggest challenges for independent breweries in Northern Ireland is getting their beer pouring in Belfast city centre. 🚶‍♂️Come for a dander with founder Chris and check out some of the awesome venues where you can always pick up some @modestbeer in the heart of Belfast 🙏It’s so important that we get out and support our local hospitality and producer businesses whenever we can. They’re class, and need our help! Stay Modest ✌️

Last Wednesday we headed over to @rake_bar for a Modest Beer tap takeover hosted by Mona and the team 🍺 It was a bit of a full circle moment personally. I lived in London back in 2013–14, many years before starting Modest Beer, and places like The Rake were where I first got a feel for independent beer culture — small breweries, taprooms, craft beer bars and people doing things their own way. To come back over a decade later and see beer brewed in Bangor pouring there was pretty special. Big thanks to Mona and everyone who came down for a pint. Chris Stay Modest ✌️

We’re bringing back our Pellicle Panels for FyneFest 2026! Join us for Fresh Green Shoots – a relaxed tasting panel celebrating the independent breweries shaking up NI’s beer scene 🌱 Despite being one of the most tied beer markets in the world, these brewers are carving out something seriously special – and you’ll get to taste it for yourself 👇 Tom Ray, @bullhousebrewco – a 30+ year industry veteran who’s worked across breweries of all sizes in all sorts of roles, now leading the charge at Bullhouse and keeping up as demand for their hazy, hop-forward beers grows. Chris Morris, @modestbeer – founder of Modest Beer, Chris began his brewery career as a tax accountant by day, brewer by night. Modest Beer started life in his parents’ garage with a small Kölsch brew and has since grown into one of NI’s most exciting independent breweries. We’ll be releasing tickets for this and all our panels on 24th April, so make sure to add the date to your diary as spaces are limited! #FyneFest #CraftBeer #BeerFestival #NorthernIrelandBeer #BeerTasting

Throwback to this one from @nobleholywood shot at the end of 2024. Proud to have supplied these guys since Modest Beer launched in 2019. They know what they’re at. Things have moved on for both of us from when I (Chris) shot this video with @hfphotography over a year ago and I’m super excited for what’s coming soon @nextdoor_pasta The draught lines had to go to make space but both beers still available in can 🍺 Stay Modest ✌️

Three new beers have just hit the webshop 🍺 The Eggers’ Hazy IPA (5.5%) Featuring Eggers Special, a late-pick Riwaka variant grown by Kem Eggers, nephew of hop legends Bruce and Betty. Bright tropical fruit, citrus, and a soft hazy body. This is the first in a trio exploring this hop across different styles. These guys have gone all in on Riwaka and we’re here for it. It’s A Yes ✅ Nectaron Pale Ale Plucked from our Pretty Good Pale Ale experiments and instantly approved. Big bursts of tropical fruit and citrus wrapped up in a soft, voluptuous body. Not Bad Session IPA #9 — Citra Cryo & Nelson Sauvin Built for easy drinking without skimping on flavour. Juicy, tropical, smooth, and refreshing — exactly what you’d hope for from a session IPA drinking way above its 4.3%. Currently available to trade via @saltybuoybeer Stay Modest ✌️

Our original hazy pale ale is back in stock :) Succulent and hazy. Cloudy yet full of sunshine. It’s always a challenge as a brewer when you move to a new location. Different water source, some new equipment to get your head around. But rather than shooting for consistency with this beer, the focus has been on elevating our favourite pale ale to another level. Gyle 246 is the third batch of this beer brewed in Bangor and I am super excited to get this latest version into your hands. It’s going out to the independent trade next week and is available on our web shop now. You can save up to 15% on multipack offers, and collect straight from the brewery within 24 hours of ordering. Stay Modest ✌️

Throwback to October 2024: Our first permanent draught line in Belfast city centre after 5 years of operating. We tried to play it cool at the time. But this was a massive deal for us, and still is. 2026 and 2 Thumbs Up is still flowing by the pint at The Foundry on Hill Street 👍👍 Moments like this mean a lot to small producers - mostly because they are not easy to come by. A more open and balanced licensing landscape would help independent venues, artists and breweries alike find their feet. We’re supportive of the ongoing legal challenge around licensing reform: follow @holly__lester and @freethenightni to stay informed.
