Hi Everyone, it’s Celine from Modern Strings! It’s been awhile so I figured we could use a little re-introduction.
🎻 I’m the face behind many of the calls, emails and social media posts related to our company alongside my teammate and partner, Ben, who is also a violinist.
🎻 I have a sweet golden colored mini poodle named Toby who frequently sits on my lap for calls with clients. 🐾
🎻 One of my favorite places I’ve traveled to is Lake Como, Italy. The mountains along the lake are just unreal and I see why it’s such a popular destination wedding spot! The best gnocchi we had was in Milan though 🇮🇹
🎻 I started playing the violin when I was 7 after I saw the Boston Symphony play for the first time. One week later, I was in private lessons and haven’t stopped since.
🎻 My family is now based in Nashville, Tennessee, where I went to college at Belmont University, but I grew up in a small town near the Smokey Mountains in East Tennessee. Then I moved to New England for my masters degree. My time in Nashville was a huge highlight and I got to meet and work with so many influential artists.
🎻 Going to the gym and cooking/baking is my stress relief. I would consider myself a type A personality, but I feel like that has so many layers to it. Not everything has to be in a box, but I appreciate a sense of organization in my life if I’m able to make it happen.
🎻 I was an airline kid. Both of my parents work/worked for Delta so I’ve flown a lot and moved a bunch! Being adaptable is one of my strongest skill sets.
🎻 My favorite Modern Strings grouping to play in is the string quartet. It’s a classic pairing for a reason and once you get four players together, it feels so good and the sound is multi-dimensional. The musicians feel it and I know the audience does too.

Welcome to our new followers! Thought we'd take a moment to re-introduce ourselves.
🎶 We're Ben and Celine Dean, recently married in May 2021, and are violinists, teachers, and performers in the New Haven, CT area.
🎶 We both have music performance degrees from The Hartt School in West Hartford, CT, Ben double majored in music education and I did my undergraduate training in Nashville TN at Belmont University.
🎶 Ben spent 7 years on tour with his band Caravan of Thieves and currently does session work remotely and in CT
🎶 Celine maintains a Suzuki violin studio of 30+ students in Westport CT and Orange CT, performs in a weekly string quintet and worship ensemble at a church in Darien CT and subs for Greenwich Symphony Orchestra and Wallingford Symphony orchestra.
🎶 Combined we've played over 1,000+ weddings. No joke. Experience is key!

There’s something about weddings at Hartford City Hall that are just so magical with strings. ✨
In fact, it’s one of our favorite venues to perform at because the space is beautifully resonant and allows the natural sound of the strings to project without any help. The experience is breathtaking.
