Listened to an interview on NPR this morning debating whether college was worth it as AI reshapes the job market. So that's fun. I guess what I'm saying is maybe put some extra money in those grad cards this year.
Friendly reminder that graduation is sometime around now. And that 30-50% of college grads move back home after college so it's time to convert your home gym back into Timmy's bedroom.
Just a reminder that Mother's Day is Sunday, May 10th and I never went to jail, just got a few tickets for drinking in public when I was a garbage person living in NY in my 20s.
Valentine’s Day has been the driving force behind Near Modern Disaster since I started this dog and pony show in 2009 - so having two cards featured in this NY Times article on valentines (alongside some very talented friends) is an excellent way to celebrate the holiday. (Link in profile.)
Swipe for more pics - including the 3rd card they requested before an editor yoinked it for swearing, and some conversation hearts that got what they deserved.

Everyone tells you not to get too attached to a geriatric street cat, but I didn’t listen. Little Stripes was the love of my life from the day she walked into the studio. She was my right-hand lady and having her around the last year and a half made the roughest days (of which there have been far far too many) bearable. I told her how much I loved her dozens of times a day and told her how much I’d miss her every time I left the studio. Queen of the street cats, she’d been in the neighborhood a solid decade and the neighbors all knew her. Some tried to take her in over the years, but she never went for domestication until she chose us to be her people. Within a week, she was named Employee of the Month - and has held the title since. We had to say our final goodbyes last week - and while my heart is broken, I know that we were both so incredibly lucky to have found each other when we did.
