Happy Mothers day! Don't take yourself too seriously, age and enjoy. Shake it up once in a while and never let em see you sweat. Miss my funny, quirky, lovely powerhouse of a mom.
My girls were the reason I started sewing for real. I didn't want to send them to daycare so I tried my hand at making dolls, eventually making my own designs. They put food on the table for a good while so I could be there in the formative years. We did without some things that didn't matter to have the things that do. Im forever grateful to have these two inspiring women in my life.
I so love my color drenched world. My home makes me smile. I've been doing an estate sale for friends the past couple weeks. Im glad to be back among my eclectic things. My chosen ones. Today is recharge day. Tomorrow I return to my beloved sewing room. My Oasis. My creative outlet. I am so blessed. I am so tired. I am so grateful.
Morning Bible study sunshine. If you are safe, warm and well fed, you are blessed. Make someone else's day today. The world needs random acts of kindness!
If only the younger folks of today could experience what we did. Disco music, cigarettes and white Russians. No phones, no social media. Polyester, feathers and fur. We had it so good. We danced all night, ate jack in the box at 3am and got up for work the next morning. Im sad you missed it. It was amazing. Its why I have a disco ball..
Sometimes the privilege of owning a glorious piece of history like this 1940s damask is a huge dilemma for me. It is rare and stunning. I hate to cut it but then again, its been sitting in a dark closet for decades and decades, unappreciated. For now, I'll leave it hanging on Delores, uncut, while I wrestle with myself.
