“Ditch Dad” - an edit I made with @the_professional_amateur over the past couple months. I was coming off a gnarly ankle injury, and just riding my bike around Ahwatukee looking for ditches to skate. Many of these are familiar, but a few I discovered deep in the foothills of South Mountain. Every trick except the nose slide at the end is in Ahwatukee. Thanks to Alex for roasting on hot concrete in the sun with me, and @eli__shepherd for high fives. This is more about vibe than tricks, so, yeah, it’s a concept thing. I realize this is sort of a repeat, but some thank you’s are in order. I want to thank Eli @shredandroses for filming and editing, and for being so positive and patient. It can’t be easy to work with a rusty old timer like me, but you did an amazing job. Also want to thank everyone who came to watch my part and celebrate my 46th birthday with me. Thank you to @ryan_lay and @laberu2 for hosting the watch party. Thanks to all the skaters who welcomed me when I moved back to Arizona exactly two years ago. It ain’t easy being an insecure older skater. Y’all inspired me to make my first proper video part, and I’m glad I did. Found this old edit from 20 years ago I filmed with god knows what (I certainly didn’t have a smartphone), at the middle school and skatepark on an average day in Cottonwood, AZ. Back when I could do floaty, Gonzy frontside ollies. Levi’s 501s, I believe an Analog flannel, 7.75” yellow Antihero bird, and ventures. Peep the non-sb blazers. Pretty pleased with that fit. You know what you’ll never see an old clip of me in? An all over print tall tee with some oversized New Era 59fifty. Thank goodness…
