We have had an incredible experience touring this production across the country. From tech in Buffalo, to the official opening in Boston, and now to closing night in Thousand Oaks, California, we’ve been able to share this story with millions of theatergoers, young and old.
On June 30, we took our final bow at the Thousand Oaks Bank of America Performing Arts Center. It was truly a privilege to share Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird with audiences across North America. Until next time ♥️
“Doing a part like this gives my life relevance because I get to connect art with social justice. I’m not just doing art for art’s sake.” - Yaegel T. Welch on playing Tom Robinson in Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird since 2019

"You just hold your head high and keep those fists down. No matter what anybody says to you, don't you let 'em get your goat. Try fightin' with your head for a change." - Harper Lee's Atticus Finch #InternationalWomensDay
“So much of the stuff is still happening. We can see it happening with George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Eric Gardener, Breonna Taylor, you know, the list can go on and on. To Kill a Mockingbird is still such an important story, and I connect with it because I may not have lived it directly, but I’ve lived aspects of Tom Robinson's experience, and I’ve witnessed aspects of his experience throughout my life.” - Yaegel Welch on Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird
Last night we celebrated our 1st performance at Richmond's @altriatheaterva and our 700th performance on the road! That's 7-0-0! We can't wait to see you in Virginia now through March 3. Get tickets at the link in our bio.

“She’s wise, she’s witty, she’s funny, she’s honest. Calpurnia’s relationship with Atticus is the central relationship in the live theater piece, and it’s really beautiful. They have a trust between them, so they are free to disagree with each other, go toe to toe. They’re confidants of each other, and there are many things that Calpurnia schools Atticus on — in terms of things from the Black perspective in Maycomb, Alabama, in 1934 — that he couldn’t possibly know.” - Jacqueline Williams on playing Calpurnia to Richard Thomas’s Atticus Finch
"I am very lucky to be in this play for many, many reasons — one of which is the fact that it's written so beautifully. When you're in a play that's this well written, it makes the job of an actor so much simpler." - Scout Backus on playing Scout Finch in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird
Mark your calendars, friends! “Mary Badham Day” is officially November 15 in the city of Birmingham, Alabama. The proclamation is presented by Alicia Johnson Williams from the Mayor’s Office and it reads:
“On this day, we honor Mrs. Badham for her exceptional talent, her contributions to our cultural heritage, and her role in sparking crucial dialogues about social justice. I urge all residents to join me in recognizing Mrs. Badham’s outstanding achievements and welcoming her back to her hometown with open arms. Let us celebrate her legacy, embrace the values she embodies, and continue the important conversations she has inspired.”
Cheers to the touring company of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird! Tonight we celebrate the 600th performance of this incredible work at the Marcus Center in Milwaukee.
