Arsenal have completed the signing of Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli, with the 18-year-old arriving at Emirates Stadium in a £6 million ($8m) deal. Sources close to the transfer revealed to Goal back in April that a deal for the highly-rated forward was close. The Gunners have now tied up an agreement for a player they are hoping to see unlock his full potential in England. Martinelli has been acquired from Ituano, for whom he made his debut back in November 2017 at just 16 years of age. Nigeria defender Leon Balogun has taken to social media to apologize to fans for his blunder in the team’s 2-0 loss to Madagascar on Sunday. Balogun partnered William Troost-Ekong in the defence for his second appearance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but underwhelmed in Alexandria. Madagascar opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Lalaina Nomenjanahary who pounced on a defensive error made by the 31-year-old. While trying to play out from the back, John Ogu passed to Balogun at the edge of the penalty area, but the defender hesitated which left Nomenjanahary to take control as he rounded goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa before scoring into an empty net. AC Milan have been excluded from the 2019-20 Europa League as a result of Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has announced. The Serie A giants will play no part in any continental competition during the upcoming campaign, despite having secured a fifth-place finish last season. They ended 2018-19 one point behind arch-rivals Inter Milan and outside of the Champions League spots. The Rossoneri were due to participate in Europe’s secondary club tournament, but they have been forced to withdraw after failing to adhere to FFP regulations. Real Madrid have cooled their interest in Neymar due to various factors including the implications that a move for the Brazilian would have on their goal to one day land his Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Kylian Mbappe. Sources close to events at the Santiago Bernabeu suggest that the Brazil international is now not a top target for the Blancos despite there having been initial enthusiasm to rival Barcelona for a deal. Madrid had been keen to explore the possibility of signing Neymar after it appeared he wanted out of PSG, but they are instead focusing their attention on other targets, such as Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. Single-leg training has been a hot topic for some time now. Many agree it is a staple to lasting strength and lower-body development and also places minimal stress on the low back. Yet, others remain convinced bilateral exercises are the only way to go. The funny thing is—both work! Is one more valuable than the other? Mike Boyle would tend to favor unilateral work in terms of relatable strength and development for athletes, which he found when comparing Bilateral Back Squats to the Bulgarian Split Squat. There is plenty of research that backs how effective single-leg work is and how it can benefit everyone from the recreational gym goer to the elite athlete. Arguably the most popular single-leg exercise is the Bulgarian Split Squat, alternatively referred to as the Rear-Foot-Elevated Split Squat. A person might be able to knock out sets of bilateral Back Squats with 315-plus on the bar, but hand them a pair of dumbbells equating to their body weight and ask them for 6 good Bulgarian Split Squat reps, and they turn into a wet noodle. If you can work up to doing your body weight for 4-6 solid reps on each leg, that’s a great benchmark of single-leg strength and athleticism.
