Welcome, new FireBREAKers! @moabvalleyfd 's wildland fuels crew started last week, taking down invasive Russian olive and Siberian elm trees at a property in Mulberry Grove with support from @grandcountyweedsdept !
The 5-person crew will spend the winter reducing invasive fire fuels in the Moab Valley. It’s exciting to have the additional person-power, as late fall through early spring is a great time to do fuels reduction work.
Concerned about Russian olive or tamarisk on your property? Check us out at firebreakmoab.org for more info & ways to engage!

Today we climb for the 343.
On September 11, 2001, firefighters raced into the Twin Towers and climbed floor after floor, knowing they might not make it back down. Our 2,200-step stair climb represents the 110 stories they faced that day. We climb to honor their sacrifice, to remember their courage, and to keep our promise: we will never forget. #neverforget
Members of the Moab Valley Fire Department and @grandcountyems recently wrapped up a multi-week training for their Technical Rope Rescue Technician certifications. These nationally recognized certifications help us continue to serve our community the best we can. We’d like to thank @wasatch_techrescue_training for traveling down to Moab to provide our agencies with this training.
Moab Valley Fire had a special visitor come to Station 1 this week! Sam Dingman, 16 years old, enjoys visiting fire stations when he goes on vacation with his parents. Sam is celebrating 5 months in remission after beating cancer. Sam has Down Syndrome and is the first in the nation to be diagnosed with T cell lymphoma and also the first to beat it. We loaded him up with patches and a coin. Chief Brewer was proud to make Sam an honorary member of Moab Fire.
