I just signed this letter from artists, demanding @capitalone drop their $90 million loan to Elbit Systems, and stop funding deportation and genocide
If you’re an artist— whether you’re a singer, a writer, a DJ, a painter, a dancer— join me in signing the letter, and sharing it publicly. Our voices can help stop the flow of money that keeps these unjust systems alive
Elbit Systems is a weapons and surveillance company whose technology is enabling the Trump administration’s expansion of the US deportation machine. Elbit is contracted with US Customs and Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to build 160 foot tall surveillance towers along the US-Mexico border.
This is the same DHS that has been murdering activists and everyday people in the streets and in their detention centers.
Elbit also supplies the Israeli military with weapons used in the genocide on Gaza. Israel uses Elbit’s bombs to destroy hospitals, homes, and even refugee tents, killing dozens of Gazans, including elders and children
But Capital One loves using artists to distract from their nasty loans. Capital One sponsors music events and tours, and gives their cardholders early access to tickets. And let’s not forget all the celebrity spokespeople in their commercials
I am joining a long legacy of artists speaking out against injustice. During apartheid in South Africa, the group Artists Against Apartheid advocated for the release of political prisoners like Nelson Mandela. During the Civil Rights movement, musicians like Harry Belafonte, Stevie Wonder, Mahalia Jackson, and Nina Simone bailed protestors out of jail, and wrote songs speaking out against anti-Black violence
So sign the letter at bit.ly/capitaloneletter, share, and tell Capital One: Stop funding Elbit Systems! Stop funding deportation and genocide!

Join MOA for this incredible opportunity! We will be screening two short films about the Black Butterfly, along with a Q & A with the producers afterwards. In the early 20th century, Baltimore enacted and enforced segregation policies; these redlining policies were exported to cities all across the US. The story of the Black Butterfly begins right here in Bolton Hill, where MICA resides and it is crucial for all MICA students and community members to know this history which continues to affect the city today.
🗓️ Wednesday, December 3rd, 2:15-3:45
📍 Brown 320, 1301 W Mount Royal Ave

MOA will be vending at the AAA festival this weekend!!!! We’ve got a variety of crafts made by students and MICA community members, all for 100% donation! The market is open to the public and will be from 11-4 both days, but grab your tickets to stay for the music and performances!! See you there!!🫡🫡❤️❤️
We’re having another film screening and discussion! In response to many students telling us they don’t know what’s going on in Palestine, we will be showing the film 1948 Creation and Catastrophe, which tells the story of the Nakba and founding of Israel. Understanding this history is critical to understanding the genocide in Palestine today. This is a safe space, we are all learning. There’s a reason why we aren’t taught this history in school, because this context undermines Israel’s victim narrative. We must educate ourselves. See you there!!
