After months of planning, I am so excited to share some news: my political interview podcast, Building the Bench, launches today 🎉
This idea took shape during last year’s election. While knocking on doors, I kept hearing the same thing from voters about their elected leaders: “I don’t really know these people...and I’m not sure I trust them.” That stuck with me.
This show is my attempt to change that. Politics too often feels cynical and inaccessible, and humanity gets lost in the veneer of public life. Building the Bench is about pulling that curtain back and giving the next generation of Democratic leaders space to share who they are, why they serve, and how they see the path forward.
My first guest is Congresswoman (and fellow Chicagoan 🩵) Delia Ramirez. In the weeks ahead, you’ll hear from Members of Congress across the spectrum — from middle-of-the-road pragmatists to bold progressives — each opening up in ways you don’t normally hear.
