This week, dad was fixing a door frame to our office. He’s truly become our handy man. He’s very good at it—this building is OLD y’all! 🔨
While ripping down the old frame, he found that 29 years ago—in 1997–when I was eleven—I had marked my territory. I started wiping down tables and running tea refills at age 8. At the time, I would have sworn to you that the restaurant wasn’t for me. Turns out, I was so wrong! 🧑🍳
In 2020, my husband and I bought George’s from my parents. Jon & I have chosen to make our mark mainly from the kitchen and allow our wonderful staff to take care of our guests, customer service wise.
Occasionally, we will run the front a shift here or there. And we get the “Oh—you must be new.” And we just smile and nod along.
Not. New.
Old dogs with a few new tricks, that’s all. 🐕 🪄
