KIRIZUNA interprets wood as connection. A seating system developed by MM Design in collaboration with XLAM Dolomiti, born from the desire to explore new design possibilities through SUPERTIMBER in Paulownia. Lightweight, durable, and surprisingly versatile, the material becomes structure, rhythm, and a relationship between people and space. Presented during the exhibition “NODI” – Culture, enterprise and design of Trentino wood, a project promoted by the Autonomous Province of Trento, coordinated by Trentino Sviluppo in collaboration with Trentino Marketing, curated by Paolo Baldessari and Aldo Colonetti. An important presence at the exhibition hosted at the ADI Design Museum, alongside Xlam Dolomiti, with whom we brought the project to life. Later also presented at FuoriSalone 2026, KIRIZUNA combines material research, functionality, and contemporary language into a single installation. #Kirizuna #MMDesign #XLAMDolomiti #FuoriSalone2026 #MilanDesignWeek #Paulownia #SuperTimber #DesignInstallation #ItalianDesign #MaterialResearch #ProductDesign

KIRI³ was born from the intersection of material research, design, and experimentation. Presented during FuoriSalone 2026 inside the Courtyard of the Università degli Studi di Milano, the project explores the potential of Paulownia: an extremely lightweight, durable, and fast-growing wood. In collaboration with XLAM Dolomiti, we transformed this material into a system designed to interact with space, light, and people. KIRI³ is not just an object, but an exploration of balance between technology, sustainability, and design language. #KIRI3 #Kiricube #MMDesign #XLAMDolomiti #FuoriSalone2026 #MilanDesignWeek #Paulownia #SuperTimber #DesignInstallation #ItalianDesign #MaterialInnovation #ProductDesign #MilanoDesignWeek

Materials, technology and design vision are reshaping the way we conceive the products of the future. During Smart Plastics – Engineering Polymers Forum, Alex Terzariol shared a reflection on new innovation paradigms in design: a multidisciplinary approach where sustainability, performance, perceived quality and material research become part of the same design process. From Human Haptics to Planet Cooling Solutions, the future of design lies in smarter, longer-lasting and more conscious materials. #SmartPlastics #MMDesign #DesignInnovation #Materials #ProductDesign #Sustainability #Automotive #FutureDesign #EngineeringPolymers

MM Design will take part in Smart Plastics – Engineering Polymers Forum, an event focused on innovation in polymer materials for design and the automotive industry. On May 7th, at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, Alex Terzariol will join as a speaker with a talk on new innovation paradigms in design. An exploration that combines design vision and industrial dynamics, where materials and technology become true drivers of innovation. From sustainability and durability to performance evolution and perceived quality, the talk investigates four key areas: Human Haptics, Organic Resilience, Planet Cooling Solutions and Infinite Endurance. A multidisciplinary approach to shaping the future of design. #SmartPlastics #MMDesign #DesignInnovation #Materials #Sustainability #ProductDesign #Automotive #FutureDesign #EngineeringPolymers

An intense week shaped by encounters, ideas, and material taking form. From the courtyard of the University to the studio spaces, through moments of exchange and dialogue: Fuorisalone has been a continuous conversation for us. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, took the time to talk, observe, question, and build something together. We take with us connections, energy, and new directions. #Fuorisalone2026 #DesignWeek #MMDesign #KIRI3 #Installation

KIRI³ at FuoriSalone 2026. On April 23rd, MM Design and Xlam Dolomiti presented KIRI³, developed in SUPERTIMBER — a structural material in Paulownia wood that combines lightness, strength, and scalability. The day opened with a press conference moderated by Maria Chiara Voci (Il Sole 24 Ore), speakers: Alex Terzariol, Maria Elisabetta Ripamonti, Albino Angeli, and Evgeny Borovoni. In the evening, the studio hosted an event with live jazz by Moliendo Café Trio, bringing together design, research, and material innovation. KIRI³ continues to explore new possibilities for wood — not just as a surface, but as a system. #MMDesign #KIRI #SUPERTIMBER #FuoriSalone2026 #MaterialInnovation

Kirizuna told through the voice of its designers. In this interview, MM Design shares the vision behind the project developed for Xlam Dolomiti — an exploration of wood through SUPERTIMBER, where Paulownia becomes a structural, lightweight and scalable material. From concept to development, a dialogue between material, technology and design culture. The project is part of NODI — Culture, Enterprise and Design of Trentino Wood, promoted by the Autonomous Province of Trento, coordinated by Trentino Sviluppo in collaboration with Trentino Marketing, and curated by Paolo Baldessari and Aldo Colonetti. #MMDesign #IndustrialDesign #ProductDesign #Kirizuna #Supertimber

From raw nature to high-tech engineering. Meet our Material of the Week: Paulownia. But this isn't just about the world's fastest-growing tree. It's about its revolutionary evolution into SUPERTIMBER. Through a patented molecular densification process developed by FBK and Xlam Dolomiti, this feather-light wood is transformed. The result? A sustainable material that achieves mechanical performances approaching those of structural metals—boasting up to 220 N/mm² of resistance—without the carbon-heavy footprint or polluting resins. #Paulownia #SuperTimber #MaterialInnovation #WoodDesign #SustainableDesign #NaturalMaterials #DesignProcess #MaterialResearch #FutureMaterials #ArchitectureMaterials #IndustrialDesign #EcoInnovation #LightweightDesign #DesignInspiration #Fuorisalone2026
