A nedávno navíc získal ocenění Red Dot – blahopřejeme!

Celebrating World Landscape Architecture Month and the power of thoughtful, community-centered design.
At Middlefield Junction in Redwood City, a once-industrial site has been transformed into a welcoming affordable housing community, bringing together surrounding neighborhoods, a health center, childcare, and transit into one cohesive place to live.
Landscape Architect Fletcher Studio shaped the outdoor experience, creating spaces that support daily life through shared outdoor amenities, while BAR Architects designed the housing. We’re excited to have brought Berliner rope play and mmcité site furnishings to this project, adding opportunities to play, recharge, and connect.
Developed in collaboration with Mercy Housing California with dedicated supportive housing, Middlefield Junction reflects what’s possible through strong partnership and people-first design.

Salone del Mobile is here! ✨
We might not have an installation in the halls this year, but mmcité is a permanent part of Milan’s streets all year round.
Enjoy the design buzz! And when you need a break, see you outside on our Port bench in Brera.

The Future of Design | Quality for Everyone
As we look toward the future of landscape architecture, the focus is shifting back to the fundamental quality of our public spaces. The core mission for the coming years is to ensure that high-end design is not a luxury reserved for a few, but a standard for everyone. We believe that the streetscapes of tomorrow should be defined by "democratic design"—the idea that every citizen deserves access to beautiful, functional, and durable furniture in their parks and plazas. By elevating the quality of these shared spaces, we elevate the quality of life for the entire community.
The future is also found in the "honesty" of materials. We are seeing a move away from trendy, short-lived aesthetics in favor of timeless materials like steel, aluminum, and natural wood that age with dignity. The goal for 2026 and beyond is to move past the "disposable" culture of urban planning. Instead, we are focusing on infrastructure that is built to last for decades, reducing the need for constant maintenance and replacement. When furniture is designed with this level of integrity, it becomes a permanent part of the city’s identity rather than a temporary fixture.
Ultimately, the future of our cities lies in adaptability and human-centric innovation. Whether it is a modular seating system that can be reconfigured as a neighborhood grows or smart integration that provides subtle lighting and charging, the design must serve the person first. By combining industrial precision with a deep respect for the public realm, we are ensuring that our future cities are not just more efficient, but more inviting. We are building a world where the furniture in our squares and parks is a testament to the value we place on our communities.

The Design Process | Bridging the Gap from Vision to Reality
The journey of a public space begins long before the first shovel hits the ground. It starts with a deep dive into the site’s DNA—analyzing the wind patterns, the way sunlight hits the pavement at noon, and how people naturally flow through the area. Landscape architects look at the "bones" of the site first, sketching out the foundational layout and ecological systems. However, a site plan remains an abstract concept until we introduce the elements that allow humans to actually inhabit it. This is where site furniture transitions from a luxury to a critical design tool.
Integrating site furnishings is not a final decorative step; it is a strategic part of the design process. We consider how a bench can act as a boundary to create a "quiet zone," or how the placement of a bike rack can signal a transition from a busy street to a pedestrian-only plaza. Every piece of furniture is chosen to reinforce the architectural language of the space. Whether we select a modular system that mimics the curves of a nearby river or minimalist steel pieces that complement a modern facade, these elements serve as the physical interface between the person and the environment.
The final stage of the process is the "stress test" of reality—ensuring that the chosen materials can withstand the high-traffic demands of public life while remaining beautiful. By selecting furniture that balances form, function, and durability, we ensure that the original design intent survives for decades. This thoughtful orchestration of space and object is what transforms a simple plot of land into a destination. It is the invisible work behind every great park and plaza, ensuring that the finished product feels as natural and intuitive as if it had always been there.
