🚧 ICF Bucks vs. LSL/LVL Bucks – What’s Behind Your Openings Matters 🧱🪟⁣ ⁣ When you’re building with ICF, the window and door bucks you choose don’t just affect the pour—they impact everything from stucco movement to energy efficiency and long-term window performance.⁣ ⁣ 🔷 ICF Buck (like the ones we’re using here) ✅ Integrates seamlessly with the ICF system ✅ Moves with the wall—less stress on stucco and windows ✅ No thermal bridging = better energy performance ✅ Easier and faster to install when using a pre-made system ⚠️ Needs solid bracing to hold shape under pour pressure ⚠️ Not as rigid for fastening heavy windows unless reinforced properly⁣ ⁣ 🟫 LSL/LVL Bucks ✅ Strong and rigid—great for heavy window or door units ✅ Familiar to most framers and finish crews ⚠️ Moves differently than ICF walls, which can lead to stucco cracking or flange movement over time ⚠️ More time-consuming to install and detail (air sealing, insulation, taping, etc.) ⚠️ Creates thermal bridging if not carefully addressed⁣ ⁣ 🏗️ Bottom line: ICF bucks are quicker to install and better at moving with the wall system—ideal for energy performance and stucco durability.
