Love's ability to “shine through" adversities is undeniably one of its most powerful and most beautiful traits. A couple weeks ago Chalyn and Tom didn't let anything stop them from tying their lives together officially (not even buckets of rain during an outdoor ceremony!!) If romance had a setting, it might look something like this. Inside a glass sanctuary where candlelight flickered like quiet applause and towering greens stretched toward the sky, @kayy.coats and @koty_coats promised forever. You could feel it before the ceremony even began. A quiet electricity in the room. A warmth in the air. The kind of presence that only happens when two people are wildly certain about one another. St. Joseph wasn’t where life started for me but it’s a place that felt worth choosing, again and again. There’s a charm here that reminds you of how beautiful the world can be.
Lissa & Joey’s wedding at Shadowland Ballroom on Silver Beach matched that feeling from start to finish. Along the shores of Lake Michigan, a day that let the rest of the world fade away, and left only what mattered.

This one felt like a novel: a father’s song in Russian, a mother translating with care, a groom who knows how to choose his words, and a bride whose energy fills the margins. He writes; she radiates; together they made the boardwalk feel like a scene you wander into and don’t want to leave. The river gave us a steady rhythm and the boardwalk gave us a sterling stage.

Videography may be where I spend most of my weekends, but photography was my first love, and photographing weddings like Emma & Tim’s remind me why.
