CALLING ALL CREATIVES OF COLOR 📣 Start off 2025 getting your money right! 💰⁣ We’re bringing back one of the community faves, Money Talks: Finance Q&A for BIPOC Creatives! Thursday, February 13th · 6 - 8:30pm · Moxy Hotel, 585 SW 10th Avenue, Portland, OR. $5-25 suggested donation, NOTAFLOF.⁣ ⁣ Get your personal and business money questions answered from a group of amazing financial experts including accountants, tax preparers, bookkeepers, and financial consultants. All profits from our sliding scale tickets ($5-$25) will support Operation Olive Branch.⁣ ⁣ This event is a collaboration between @portlandincolor and our volunteer financial experts and friends:⁣ * Chaim Schramm, CFS, CAS, AIF (@chaiminvestmentadvisors )⁣ * David Hackett, EA (@pacifictaxrelief )⁣ * Jenna Goldin, EA/LTC (@shiftaccountingllc )⁣ * Jesse Swordfisk, CPA⁣ * Nicole Long, CPA (Breath & Taxes)⁣ * Meghan Keys, Bookkeeper (@mkbkllc )⁣ ⁣ This series was launched as an economic justice initiative to support artists of the Global Majority obtain the financial information they deserve but which has been systemically suppressed so that we can better navigate this capitalist system. This isn’t the only solution, but one effort, and we hope it helps quell fears, overwhelm, and be one resource amongst many for how we may take care of the communities that matter to us, near and far.⁣ ⁣ The evening will center around small cohorts of BIPOC creatives rotating between tables to chat with our radical money allies in open Q&A. NOTE: This is a confidential, private event for BIPOC attendees only that will not be recorded to ensure privacy is upheld as much as possible. Financial professionals are volunteers and aren’t all BIPOC. ⁣ ⁣ Food and drinks available for purchase directly from The Moxy (save those receipts *wink*)⁣ ⁣ Tickets are going fast—only 30 remaining! Call it a story of the best Facebook Marketplace exchange ever or a wonderful reminder that sometimes money has less value then art, we call it a magical night we will never forget.   One thing you may not know about Boss Lady Meg is that she finds herself buying and selling vintage furniture a lot. A few years ago she bought a beautiful couch.  It never quite fit the space so in December we listed it on Facebook Marketplace for sale. Lots of scammers later and a familiar name to Meg popped up, @israelnebeker from @blindpilot , one of those bands that was a soundtrack to huge love and life events in her life.   Once finding out that he was not a scammer Meg shared her admiration for his music and Israel suggested a hearty trade - the couch for a private show.   Last Thursday a gaggle of staff and friends showed up at the office after-hours. Israel sang a beautiful set of songs old and new, we laughed, told stories, and rejoiced about how good the sound in our triangle office sounds. It was pure joy and we are all grateful that Israel was up for such a wonderful non-commerce exchange. We will never forget how special this night was. Thank you Israel for being such a stellar human and sharing your talents with us. 🩷   Also, we might have to do this again... who wants to play a show next? There might be a couch in it for you. 😆
