Ben is a man of many talents — one of those being that he is unbelievably good at making a grilled cheese sandwich.
We might be giving away some of his secrets on how to make one, but nothing will ever beat the real thing. Pop in and try one for lunch sometime.
Café open Tuesday – Sunday, 10am-5pm. Food served between 11am-3pm.

In 1969, the Ghanian artist, activist and cultural leader Marigold Akufo-Addo modelled for Euan Uglow.
Akufo-Addo studied at the Slade School of Art between 1968-71 before returning to Ghana to launch the Lamra Studios and Gallery in 1975. To this day, she remains an advocate and supports the arts.
In Marigold, Uglow’s line marks are visible against the black background, highlighting how he played close attention to depicting the model in profile.

Euan Uglow spent many summers visiting the Mediterranean ☀
During these trips, he usually painted several landscape paintings – marking a shift in pace from the much lengthier periods spent on completing paintings in his London studio.

In 1982, Euan Uglow sketched the model Liz Barratt posing in his upstairs studio at Turnchapel Mews, South London.
Uglow incorporated sketches of Barratt into his painting, The Blue Towel (1982-83), which depicts the model on the ground floor of the studio. Though painted from sketches rather than life, Uglow captures a scene that would occur when Barratt stayed overnight at the studio, where she would collect a towel from a rack by the stove before having a shower 🚿
In the final painting, Uglow depicts three versions of the figure, collecting a towel, walking towards the shower and pausing in the doorway. The painting captures Barratt’s journey across the room as well as a sense of departure as she leaves the scene.
The study for The Blue Towel and the final painting are on loan from @jerwood_foundation as part of the exhibition Euan Uglow: An Arc from the Eye at MK Gallery.
