This beautiful creature left the world today, May 9, 2026.
We are beyond heartbroken.
Maeby and I met on May 9, 2016, ten years ago today. She was a teenaged mother and owner-surrender with her six pups. She and I immediately bonded at the first meet-and-greet. I had never been someone’s person or fallen in love with an animal ever. I can’t explain it; I knew she was my dog, and brought her home without Mike meeting her first. She has followed me everywhere inside and outside the house since then.
She was smart, stubborn, funny, gentle… always loved all the dogs and people who have floated in and out of our home. She loved napping, especially in the sunshine. She always made sure to place herself in the center of all the action, blocking hallways and doorways. She hated traveling but we brought her on family vacations anyway.
She survived cancer a year ago, only for it to come back two-fold this year. Her decline was fast. We had three wonderful days in a row this week, but today when we woke up, she was different. It was time.
The house is quiet, and at dinner time it shouldn’t be.
Thank you @taralynn_andco for the photos and @bluepearlrdunc for all the wonderful care you have given us. We had an extra year with our girl, and we’re forever grateful for that. ❤️
Back in my day we had posters on the wall for hex codes and quick references for JavaScript and Regular expressions! Found these Visibone posters at a local thrift shop and was instantly transported back to 2002. #visibone #webdevelopment #internethistory
