Yāall have known I have only had my eye on one place since hearing we have to move. I played the long game and Iām happy to announce the Belmont Market is gonna be our new home!!! Itās still under heavy construction but I think itās worth the wait. I canāt imagine Mix Tape in any other neighborhood. So much more space. Excited for multiple changing rooms, a public bathroom, storage and I will be able to have a real leather work shop area and teach classes. If you havenāt been into the shop lately we have started to pack but we are still here and open regular hours. Plus we are having the craziest sales. Please come and support us, I have no idea how long we will be closed until we will be able to reopen.
Posting a picture of my face for the algorithm. I have been prolonging doing this because I havenāt found the right words but If youāre a customer or vendor you probably are aware that the building Mix Tape is in has been for sale. Well it is official, the building has sold and they arenāt allowing me to renew my lease along with both my upstairs neighbors. They were trying to evict us in 30 days but we were able to negotiate for 90. So December will be our last month in this space. Iām still in shock and utterly devastated. Itās been hard to navigate whatās next. I have been working to secure a building on Belmont but itās still under construction and will not be ready by the time we need to move. Iām hoping we will only have to be closed for a few months but it uncertain. My main priority is to stay on Belmont in the community I love. I want to say Thank You to all the individuals who have checked in on me and have been a support over the last few months while I have been dealing with all this stress. Here are some random photos of Mix Tape as a pallet cleanser. Please come and support us and the 172 vendors who make up Mix Tape so that we can make a smooth transition. Nic and I will be wheeling and dealing on our items. If your a vendor please keep a look out in your DMās. I will be giving back clothing items in the months of November and be focusing on my handmade artists for the month of December to help make this move easier. If you have reached out to me recently and I havenāt gotten back to you this is why, I am slowly responding to messages. Please be patient with me. Mix Tape is so much more than a store to me. Itās my entire world and the community its created has been such a pleasure to be apart of. Thank yāall for supporting me and all the wonderful vendors who make up Mix Tape.

Mix Tape recently reopened in the old bodega spot, same magic as their previous spot- but amplified! So many well curated treasures, this is not your average vintage shop. š¤
Also home to @leatherdaddyoutpost š
And true to the bodega roots they still have some snacks and drinks if you need a little pick me up.
As an aside thatās my @wokeface mural out front! š what an honor to adorn this magical place!

So excited to be back in the studio making stuff again. Wanted to do a fun little drop of items for my birthday (May 15th) and show you some of the things I have been working on all of which are hitting the floor this morning.
Times are tough and itās been hard for me to get excited for things when the world feels so bleak, let alone be creative. I have pushed myself so hard for the last six months. From finding out we had to move, to packing up an entire store and then renovating a new space that needed a lot of work. I feel like I have pushed through things that I probably should have thrown in the towel for.
I donāt think people talk honestly enough about what itās truly like owning a small business and all that it takes from you. How hard it is to run a business when you donāt know how to run a business. Months without paychecks. Pouring your entire self into every part; all my time, money, and energy into something that never truly turns off.
This move forced a hard reset. It helped me realize what truly matters to me as a business owner. One of those things is returning to my roots of leather work, itās the reason I opened a business in the first place. I am maker.
During the chaos of this move, notebooks were my lifeline. I carried them everywhere. I used them to sketch out our new store shelves, track vendors, write grocery lists, and brain-dump every overwhelming thought. When you are learning as you go, notebooks keep you sane. They are the physical proof of your progress. Now, Iāve made a home for yours to live together.
Handcrafted from raw materials to keep your ideas, chaos, and progress organized in one place.
* Premium, durable leather and cowhide
* Industrial silver rivets and heavy-duty grommets
* Stud detailing
* Flexible elastic to hold multiple notebooks
* Inside pockets
Thank you for sticking with me through the moves, the struggles, and the resets. I am so proud of these pieces, and I canāt wait to share them with you for my birthday.
Expect to see more handmade stuff from me!
