I'm thrilled to introduce the newest addition to my hybrid mixing setup: the Orca Bay. Crafted by the esteemed German company Manultec, this mastering-grade EQ delivers a Pultec-like sound without the tubes, offering a larger scale and a more contemporary sonic character. Given the recent production issues due to the pandemic, this unit is likely one of the last new ones available worldwide, making it an incredibly rare and exceptional piece of gear. The Orca Bay will be exclusively employed on projects where individuals visit the MSR studio to finalize their mixes in person. It serves as my gift to those who still appreciate the beauty of direct human interaction within the mixing studio sessions. In an era when audio technology is advancing rapidly, it becomes even more crucial to reconsider what makes us human. Emotions and human connection lie at the core of our humanity, and music production thrives on these two elements. Emotion forms a bond with the audience. The Orca Bay is one of those analog equipment pieces that give me goosebumps. From the moment I first heard it, its magical impact on my mixes became etched in my memory. Unlike plugins, which can be efficient, affordable, and sound amazing, but often undergo abrupt changes that render them unusable, analog enchantment endures. It remains eternally faithful, offering a distinct and unforgettable character. While I utilize a variety of plugins, the Orca Bay's magic is in a league of its own.
