I had my first ever film screening yesterday and honestly I can’t even begin to say thank you enough to everyone that made this possible.
@evergreenngo and @padupafrica thank you for partnering with me and organizing this event, it was so amazing and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Today, we’re celebrating Chavala Yaduma (@mixchavee ) - a Nigerian filmmaker using storytelling to amplify the voices of women and girls. 🎬💛
In 2023, she directed RAIN, a powerful short film confronting child marriage and gender inequality in education. Not only is the message impactful — the film was created with an almost entirely female crew, opening doors for women behind the camera too. ✨
Beyond filmmaking, Chavala mentors young girls through workshops and creative programmes, helping them use storytelling as a tool for advocacy and self‑expression.
Chavala reminds us that representation is about visibility and access, agency, and the courage to challenge systemic barriers. 🇸🇪🇳🇬
