Hi friends! Did you know that I have an Etsy* shop? Yes! It's also called MithiMakes . My marketing agent (ie the small human) says I should really advertise it more. She also suggested I make it a pinned post ... I have learnt to trust my 13-year old 😆
Also if there's anything you've seen on my feed that you'd like, but don't see in the shop, just DM me! I'm also very open for commissions, again, just DM me.
*Yes, I'd love to get off ETSY and have an online retail presence of my own on my website - but these things take time and this is where it is for the moment. 🙏🏼
Friends, I'd love to share these with more people. Does anyone know of any galleries that might be interested , or group shows I could apply for? I'm not very good at getting my work 'out there' and would appreciate any information/help that anyone can impart ...
Happy first of February!
I've been very slowly updating my Etsy shop and I've added some little original collages in antique brass effect frames. They are little ladybird pairs and would make wonderful Valentine's gifts 💌
I've also the last of my little collage brooches. Unfortunately for those after a puffin - they sold out! But fear not, then is a plan to make more and do some of the other birds.
Have you seen all my birds? You can see the full set on my Behance portfolio. Both Etsy shop and Behance portfolio linked in my bio!
Been getting curious about moths recently... Well been curious about them for a long time, but so much so that I have signed up with @bs3mothclub to borrow a moth trap for a month shortly! So very excited!!!
In the meantime you can have a look at the equally stunning paper collage hawk moths I've been making over April: pink Elephant hawk moth; green Lime hawk moth; and the buff Poplar hawk moth.
Now to just make them some habitats/backgrounds 🥰

This image has been squatting intently in my brain for several years and I finally got round to getting it out.
We have a family tradition of going to Carbis Bay in Cornwall for our holidays. We go every couple of years and have stayed in several different holiday cottages. A few years ago we stayed in one with a beautiful view across the bay to St. Ives. It’s only once we got there did we realise that the house (now split into three apartments), is the former home of Barbara Hepworth and it’s called “Chy -An-Kerris”. @drew_makes , the small and I all love good ‘ol Babs and always visit her museum in St Ives. What a treat to be able to say that we stayed in her house! It had a fantastic view and you could see all the way across to Smeaton’s Pier, St Ives Head and St Nicholas Chapel.
Scroll through the carousel to see some of the actual photos from the house.
Anyways, there you have it … this is entitled “Babs’ View” 🥰
I actually filmed myself making the raven (see my last post). This is sped up 4x - that's how slow I go ... 🐌🦥 Includes the indecision about the size of the eyes towards the end 😆 ... Does not include the extra feathering on the beak that I decided to add later.

Happy grey Monday folks.
I've been working on this cloche for the last couple of weeks - a birthday present for a dear artist friend (who is on here , so had to keep WIPs extra quiet) . I didn't really have a plan per se - started with the raven and worked myself out from there.
It's a combination of her personal mythology - raven, mermaid, moon, red thread... Those of you who know her will recognise her immediately in this little diorama. It's been delivered, and seen, so I can share it with you all now 😁
Happy birthday gorgeous 🥰 you know who you are!
Been working on this very slowly for a month I think. Just had a desire to make flowers. Covered in coloured slip (not something I usually do!). Just been left for bisque firing. Will decide next week whether to add underglaze.

The final kingfisher diorama done!
This time accompanied by some purple loosestrife. It's been great researching UK waterside plants 😍
Have so enjoyed these! Have some ideas for filling the rest of the glass cloches I have. Most likely will be nature themed, especially with spring on the way.

Kingfisher diorama two! Surrounded by yellow flag irises.
Mr dragonfly was a late edition as compositionally something was amis. If I'd started with him I would have put him in front of the front line of water. But it is what it is.
Have another very zoomy torpedo shaped kingfisher to build a habitat for. More researching waterside plants.

Uuuuuu got myself some glass cloches for my diorama dreams (came from China with the worst packaging ever 😬 Amazed nothing broke...)
Anyways, here is kingfisher diorama one. Flying through the bulrush. What do you think? I'm very pleased!
Diorama two is almost done. There's something missing and I have to work it out 🤔. And then a third kingfisher that I have some ideas about, but haven't started yet.
I also have another 7 cloches after that so any diorama ideas greatly appreciated 😁

So here they all are together. Six little bluetits. Scroll though the carousel to see my process.
1. Started off as drawings. Looked at lots of bluetits on trees (I did contemplate flying ones, but that wasn't the vibe at the time!)
2. Traced them all out to work out the collage pieces I needed
3. Then there's quite a bit of time taken to find the right combination of collage papers. This process is a lot slower than most people expect. I use found/bought patterned paper. The colours, the scale of the designs, etc... all have to work together . Here's the bits of each bird cut out and popped in little plastic trays so I don't loose them.
4. Made them all!
5. Deciding that I'm going to have them all on a tree.
6. Very unhappy with tree and composition. Take a week off while I do my taxes. Finally decide to go back to what I like - little mini collages. Then we go through the designing the background and selecting collage papers again.
I'm so glad I redid them. And enjoyed doing a set and making sure all the backgrounds work well together.
Hope you like them too!
