Thanks to everyone who stopped by Boderline this CPW!
From talking and sketching at our booth to coloring in our chaotic beavers, we loved welcoming the class of 2030 🎨
Winter is here and on Stata’s blackboards ☃️❄️. Borderlin’s Chalk of the Day wishes you a bright last week of classes. May your coffee be warm and your exams merciful.
Spring ‘25 Murals - Artists’ Stories (located in the tunnels)
.
“Lifted”
Artist: Grace DeMartino, ‘25
.
“Lifted is a celebration of color, imagination, and the quiet hope that rises when we look up. The mural depicts a radiant hot air balloon floating through an open sky, rendered in bold, saturated hues that are meant to evoke wonder and joy. I chose the hot air balloon as a symbol of lightness and escape — a moment of peace above the noise, where perspective shifts and new ideas can take flight. I wanted to create something that would spark a sense of childlike curiosity in anyone who passed by — a visual reminder that color, movement, and play still have a place in our daily lives.”

Spring ‘25 Murals - Artists’ Stories (located in the tunnels)
.
“No Place Like Ohm”
Artist: Layal Barakat, ‘23
.
“Poppies intertwine with and are rooted in an ohm, unit of electrical resistance. This mural symbolizes the power of resilience: overcoming challenges and breaking through the problems that hold you down. Like greens that defy expectations and emerge through concrete sidewalks, these flowers embody the resistance and perseverance needed to face the storm. They represent the will to persist, to grow, and to flourish against any and all adversity.
We marvel at the sight
Of greens that grow through cracks
What ends the concrete fight
But the “weeds” that take it back”
.

.
“radishes”
Artist: Hanjie Liu, ‘24
.
“To me, this was really meant as a memorial! I wanted to tie in themes of life and death, which is the growing of the radish (new life) and the skull next to it (death and decomposition). I’ve come to realize, in the end, everything is cycles, you know? Nature has always fascinated me, and I think it always will. Sometimes life is just meant to be experienced.”
