Verona Collection 3/3 ✨💜🪩 was soll ich sagen?

💫 #frauenchor #womenchoir #agc_verona #chorwettbewerb #choircompetition

The long road from having the idea to make „Disease“ by Lady Gaga an a-capella Choir Song- Pt. 3 First: Are you still with me? Parrrrrt Thrrrrreeeeeeee 🪚🪓🔪 So: I decided on the song, did my research, created the a-capella arrangement, produced the Teach Mes, and now’s the „hour of truth“ 🕰️, as we say in German: I’m showing the arrangement to my women’s choir for the first time! Which means: I teach it to them directly. The hard part is, that there’s no internal image yet of how it should sound like, because obviously a-capella arrangements differ a lot compared to the original Pop Music productions. So we have to build the parts from scratch, bit by bit, voice layer by voice layer, so that an „internal sound image“ can arise. This is a rather messy process! The singers (they are no professionals) really have to learn and study the lyrics, the phrasing of it, the notes, the harmonies - activities that demand a lot of brain capacity. Even though we’re including the body, remember to feel free in our vocal cords & vocal expression plus remember a proper singer’s technique- it becomes a tiring process. Because we all know that multi tasking is a myth and we can only focus on (doing) one thing at a time (at least consciously) while we are learning something new. Be patient my friends: the next video won’t be the fourth (and btw last) part of the „Disease“ -series, due to a special event. Will talk about that in my Newsletter (you haven’t signed up yet? Go there, I have plenty to tell and won’t spoil social media with it 😉). So I will mix up the series here. Which part of the video was the most surprising one for you? #ladygaga #choirmusic #arragermusic

The long road from having the idea to make „Disease“ by Lady Gaga an a-capella Choir Song- Pt. 2 In Part 1 (check it out, if you haven’t yet) I told you, that I chose „Disease“ by Lady Gaga due to the lyrics, because I resonate with them. I also wrote that arranging helps me transmute unsettling feelings. So here’s a little context: Most of my childhood I felt very alone. My parents emigrated alone with me as their only child. So I guess, a lot has to do with that (the impacts of emigrating and integration in a foreign country and what it does to the psyche of the generations is a huge topic in general. But we’re all here for music, not sociology🤓). So basically music was the only (healthy) thing that helped me bear and transmute this pain. Even more: The only times in my life, where I didn’t mind being alone (or actually LOVED it) was, when I was in relationship with music: dancing, listening to music or playing around with musical ideas. So that’s my full circle moment: arranging and recording teach me’s (and so many other activities in music like songwriting, composing, practicing your instrument) are actually very „lonely“ activities. Your only partner is the music and you completely submerge yourself (or better: your ego) in it to build a new world. You „do“ Magic, or more correctly: musical alchemy 🪄🎶❤️ Are there times, when you too enjoy loneliness? #ladygaga #choirmusic #womenschoir #frauenchor #arrangermusic

The long road from having the idea to make "Disease" by Lady Gaga an A-capella Choir song - Pt.1. First there’s the decision: why exactly do I want to arrange THIS song for my choirs / female voices? Undoubtedly, the Artist is outstanding! Arranging a song from Lady Gaga was already on my bucket list. Then I look at the harmonies and the lyrics. In this case, I was moved to the core by the lyrics. This deeply felt pain & desperation - I could relate with a lot of parts of the song because I felt like this for the majority of my life. Arranging music that resonates with me on a deeper level - especially if it’s a troubling or disturbing feeling 💔(while it also works with elevating feelings 🦋🪽) gives me the feeling of transmuting sorrow or pain into sth. meaningful and healing ❤️‍🩹. Because, in the end, singing in a group and in general IS an elevating experience and can accelerate a healing process. It’s a powerful tool! This is how I would even put my „job description“ as an arranger: you become an emotional alchemist. Even with commissioned work you try to extract the emotion and - at best - I always add a part of me. Just a little „salt“. As you can see in the video: extracting alone the musical information is a lot of work! It can be also quite boring, like recording the „Teach Me’s“ for my choirs. At the same time, producing them gives me a better feeling for my own arrangements, because then I AM the singer (and not the choirmaster or arranger or composer) and get to experience, if my arrangement works or makes sense. So as you can see: you sometimes even only record one note 😵‍💫😅🤯. Have fun with this one and leave a comment, if something comes to your mind watching or reading. Your comment is always valuable to me 🙏🏼 To be continued…
