A (cheeky) Festivus Miracle!
Festivus is my favorite holiday - it's a made up holiday from my grandmothers favorite show Seinfield. It's an 'anti-commercial holiday for those disillusioned with holiday commercialism and materialism'.
I've altered some traditions to be a bit more celebratory:
1) Airing of Grievances
Originally- Guests tell each other how they have been a disappointment in the past year, starting with the phrase, "I've got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're going to hear about it!"
My version - Non-confrontational reflection of difficult interactions in the last year
2) Feats of Strength
Originally- To wrestle the head of the household
My version - Non-violent reflection of overcoming issues in the last year
3) Festivus Dinner - fantastic
4) Festivus pole - unchanged
A moment of reflection before Christmas to feel a bit more grounded and get ready to celebrate before the next chapter.
