Remembering St. Francis of Assisi on our pilgrimage with a prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the heart of the town of Lubeck Germany. The church had beautiful art and a memorial to the four Lubeck martyrs who were murdered by the Nazis on November 10, 1943. #missionsanluisrey #missionsanluisreyparish #friarsguadalupe
This Jubilee year invites us to reflect on the life of St. Francis of Assisi, a life rooted in simplicity, compassion, and love for all creation.
At Mission San Luis Rey, his spirit lives on in every quiet corner and sacred space.

Today our pilgrimage group celebrated Mass with Fr. Vince Mesi as con-celebrant, at Saint Ansgar's Cathedral. It is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Copenhagen. Saint Ansgar, known as the “Apostle of the North”, for his missionary work to spread Christianity in Northern Europe, is the patron saint of Scandinavia. #missionsanluisrey #missionsanluisreyparish #missionslr #friarsguadalupe #sandiegodiocese

Thirty-people, including several from Mission San Luis Rey, are on a pilgrimage with Fr. Vince Mesi to Northern Europe. Our first Masses took place in Paris. (Enjoy the bells of Notre Dame as you watch the video.) One Mass was at Sacre Coeur, a beautiful church, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, overlooking Paris. We climbed 227 stairs to reach the church. It was worth every step! Our next Mass was at Notre Dame in Paris. It is an absolutely beautiful church and we were blessed to attend Sunday Mass with Fr. Vince as a con-celebrant. Notre Dame is now open to the public after the horrible fire a few years ago. But there are still ongoing restorations. It was amazing to see the thousands of people who were so eager to visit both places and take in their beauty.
