Is political alignment essential for compatibility?
Research conducted by Bumble found that four in five (80%) Australians would tell a first date who they were voting for in the upcoming election. Almost 2 in 3 (64%) Australians believe itâs impossible to date someone with opposing political views, ahead of the Australian federal election.
Hereâs what guests had to say at our dinner party that we hosted in partnership with @bumble_australia and @charlotteree . What do you think? #leaveitonthetable #ad

In a post on X, Gita Gopinath, an economics professor at Harvard University, wrote: âA painting of the end of meritocracy: A meeting of the two largest economies and not one woman at the table.â
In an interview with the Guardian, Gopinath said: âWe have somehow gravitated back to this idea that what matters is your network and not your capabilities â and that matters [in terms of] whether or not you get a seat at the table.â

This monthâs Booksmart book club pick is a collection of short stories by New York Times bestselling author Rachel Khong.
Throughout âMY DEAR YOUâ, normal people go through extraordinary transformations. A government injects its people with a drug that makes them see everyone else as members of their own race and gender. A factory worker develops an unlikely friendship with the artificially intelligent sex doll she is tasked with training. God decides that humanity is a lost cause and gives each person 24 hours to decide in which animal form they will spend the rest of their days.
Along the way, characters are confronted with supernatural and otherworldly interventions, as well as the earthly, human concerns that shape our daily lives: capitalism and race, intimacy, memory, and mortality.
Send us your thoughts for a chance to be featured in this episode of Booksmart, coming out late May.
