6/22/14-6/27/24
Around 11:00am on 6/27, @mace0jay and I said our final goodbye and thank you to Beauty. I can’t help but continue to think about how she made our duo into a trio and the definition of a family for 6 years thanks to @thefightingspiritofqueens , who ultimately brought her into our lives.
To know Beauty was to love Beauty. She truly was the most perfect dog.
We are heartbroken and it’s such a privilege to be loved by her and to have loved her (and now grieve her) as immensely as we do. She let us in and trusted us and we cared for her and we were committed to making our life together a safe space for her. She probably never understood what she truly meant to us, as a couple and a family, but her impact on all of us will live in who we are forever. To know me is to understand how deeply grief has impacted me and this is a scar that will never go away. I need some time but I am looking forward to celebrating Beauty on the other side of the immense grief I feel over this loss.
She was always a quiet dog who never barked, but the silence in our apt is deeper than I ever imaged. She was perfect for us and helped us get through some difficult parts of our relationship, life and a pandemic that scared so many of us.
A dog’s life is never long enough. But I am grateful for the 6 years we had with her. Forever my baby, I love you so much and I miss you so much, Beauty.
My mom pulled out the pics from her wallet to show me and @mace0jay . Both her and my dad had/have copies of this first pic of us in their wallets. And the second pic is very fuzzy but it’s from a vacation I took with my parents when I was in college to myrtle beach. Unlike modern days, where you can walk around with pics of people you love on your phone, I love that both my parents walked around with pics of us in their wallets.
On this Bad Bunny day, I present to you the most Rican pic I have. Because it reminds me of summers in Levittown, San Juan and celebrating my sister. It reminds me of so many cousins and not cousins and all of us together. It reminds me of trips to bayamon, and Aguadilla, and Carolina. It reminds me of days of aguacates and coquis and pink Cadillacs. It reminds me of youth and love and family. I love you Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷

Happy birthday @mace0jay ❤️
Whatever this next rotation around the sun has in store for you/us, I’m just so grateful to be by your side. Love you to the moon and back and even more than that.
