I just hit 21k followers! So I thought I'd do a little introduction post and a handy PSA for anybody wondering how to pronounce my last name. For the record: I will also marginally accept pronounciations of "Zing Sing" but PLEASE do not disgrace my ancestors with "Zing Teh-jheng". I have no idea how you came up with that and I don't think you know either.

Happy publication day to my 500+ page baby! Forgotten Women is out now on Amazon and all good bookshops. It's an anthology of all FOUR FW books, rejigged into a brand new order and with a new introduction to match. Artists, leaders, scientists and writers all in one - I hope you like it ✨ Thank you as ever to @romilly.morgan @emma_a_paterson for all your support and to @brazen.books for breathing new life into the series - and @messymel4 for the beautiful and highly strokable cover #womenshistorymonth #womenshistoryn#iwd

I was going to write all this in the caption but then I decided that I may as well make it look nice 🫶 anyway here are NINE THINGS I loved when I went to Paris in spring (nine is my lucky number and yes most of these recs are food related) (also yes I know Versailles is technically not in Paris, let me live)

What a phenomenal evening! 🤩 We had such an incredible time at our event with Patrick Radden Keefe last night celebrating the publication of his latest journalistic feat, London Falling. London Falling has been a smash-hit amongst our booksellers, so it was a huge privilege to welcome Patrick to Edinburgh and to hear all about the behind-the-scenes of creating such an insightful, captivating work. The conversation delved into everything from the rise and fall of empire, the role of journalism in modern society, and the underbelly of the cities that we think we know. This was an event we truly didn’t want to end! ✨ Sending huge thanks to @praddenkeefe and @panmacmillan for working with us on this special event; to @miss_zing for chairing an amazing conversation; to @churchhillthtr for providing us with a beautiful venue; and to @gregmacvean for all of these wonderful photos. We would also love to thank each and every one of you who came along last night, the audience Q&A session was a truly delightful part of the event, and led to (even more) fascinating discussions! If you missed the event, we have some signed copies of London Falling that you can purchase in the shop or over on our website. 📚

How much do immigrants pay for university in the UK? International students can fork out up to £70,000 a year on some courses… and that’s not counting all the other coats associated with studying abroad 👀 How much did you pay in yearly uni fees as an overseas student?

I wrote about the rise of DINKWAD (dual income + no kids + with a dog) couples for @guardian a while back. Because if you think dogs are everywhere... you're kind of right. Big thanks to everyone who spoke to me and shared their pets' stories ❤️‍🔥 But also thanks to my own rescue dog Judy for being a diva, an icon and also for absolutely hating when I made her pose next to a giant courgette.

Very proud to be in the April issue of @britishvogue speaking to Lady Elish Angiolini, the trailblazing lawyer and force of nature who is now leading the inquiry into Sarah Everard's murder. What really struck me were the little things she and her team did to help sexual violence survivors feel comfortable when giving testimony to the inquiry – tiny gestures like making sure meeting rooms had tinted windows for privacy; having snacks, water and trained first aid on hand... She left me feeling so much more hopeful about the people who pour their lives into helping others move through the world safely and with dignity 🫶 Photos: @toriferenc Hair and makeup: @rhonasmakeup

Apart from her amazing journalism, another reason I think you should know all about @miss_zing is because of the amazing carousel she wrote on here earlier this year on how to pronounce her name. The story of which I asked her about here ♥️ Find out about the languages that shaped her by commenting “Zing” and I’ll DM you!

“There goes Wireless,” writes Zing Tsjeng. “The London music festival, often described as the capital’s flagship rap weekender, has now been ignominiously cancelled after its headline act Ye was blocked from travelling to the UK.” “The rapper formerly known as Kanye West was initially meant to be headlining all three nights of the event in what was billed by Ticketmaster as a ‘genuinely era-defining weekend residency’ after an absence of more than a decade from the UK. You can certainly still consider it era-defining, though for all the wrong reasons. “In many ways, the cancellation makes perfect sense. The American rapper has a long history of antisemitic behaviour, including praising Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. “Even speaking as an ex-fan who once battled through crowds to get up close to watch Ye at Glastonbury and Wireless back in the day, I was gobsmacked by the decision to book him.” However, at the link in @theipaper ’s bio, @miss_zing argues “the most wince-inducing part of the whole debacle” is how “Wireless has shown the true face of the festival business... [by] hoping that his notoriety would bring in the big bucks”.
