Alysa Liu is an American figure skater known for her historic achievements and fearless technical ability. Born on August 8, 2005, in Clovis, California, she quickly rose through the ranks of competitive skating and became one of the sport’s most exciting young talents.
At just 13 years old, Liu won the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, becoming the youngest women’s national champion in history. She gained international attention for landing technically difficult jumps, including the triple Axel and quad Lutz, elements rarely performed in women’s skating at the time. Her energetic personality and bold approach to competition made her a standout among a new generation of skaters pushing the technical boundaries of the sport.
Liu represented the United States on the world stage, competing at the 2022 Winter Olympics and winning a bronze medal at the World Figure Skating Championships that same year. Shortly afterward, she surprised the skating world by announcing her retirement from elite competition while still a teenager.
Despite her brief competitive career, Liu left a lasting impact on figure skating and inspired a new wave of athletes pursuing higher technical difficulty in women’s skating.
