As you follow our page, chances are that you’re a nature-nerd at heart. In which case, the chances are also good that you may have, at some point, fantasised about donning a jet pack, or a hovering skateboard. Or engaging in some wild exploration into realms unexplored by humankind. Well, Misool's dive operation has got just the thing for you: Apollo AV-2 Evolution Scooters. They are fast, and noise-free, and proper usage ensures that you don’t disturb marine life and damage the reef or yourself. (Our clever activities team show you want proper usage looks like before taking you on a scooter dive.) ‘But why?’ we hear you ask. Scooters are perfect for a stress-free ride through current; your streamlined body position on the scooter allows you to admire all the pelagic action while conserving your energy and breath. You can ride hands-free, which leaves you free to handle your camera rig and lights. Or to invent new hand–signals to convey your excitement to your dive buddy! Scooters are also ideal for ocean-lovers with reduced mobility, allowing access to areas and dive sites which would otherwise be out of reach. They’re not only for divers. These are low impact devices which can be used for snorkelling too. Some diving and snorkelling folk are happy just mooching along the reef and we always make sure that our scooter divers don’t disturb other dive groups. As with everything we try to do here at Misool, we value mutual respect and the acknowledgement that we are privileged visitors to our underwater world. Featuring our very own Yasmin - @yasminrlee 📹️ @wanderlust.diver.1984 #Misool #RajaAmpat #Indonesia

Q: How many dives can I do per day? A: We schedule a check dive on the afternoon that you arrive. On each of the following days, there are three scheduled boat dives per day, as well as either a dusk dive or a night dive each night. The House Reef is open from 08:00 to 20:00 each day for buddy teams or guided dives. There's no diving on departure day, as you’ll most likely be flying the following day. #Misool #RajaAmpat #Indonesia 📸 @sabinegt @alexlindbloomphoto

Meet Suprian: Eleven Years with Misool When we asked Suprian about his earliest memory at Misool his thoughts went straight to the ocean. Early on, he was invited to snorkel alongside a guest and saw the underwater world from above. "I experienced what it's like to be a guest," he says. "I enjoyed being able to see the beautiful marine life that the Misool team has been protecting all this time." It's a perspective he's continued to carry with him. Suprian joined Team Misool eleven years ago and now leads our housekeeping team, a role he stepped into in January 2025. "I feel proud to have been given the opportunity and responsibility," he says. "This position will teach me how to be a leader." His days begin early: morning briefings with management, coordinating with his team, making sure every villa is exactly as it should be. Then onto towel art (yes, we have perfected the art of making the Misool logo from towels), refilling reusable bottles with biodegradable shampoos and conditioners and stocking minbars with delicious banana chips from the nearby village of Yellu. It's detailed, hidden work that contributes to the feeling that everything about the Misool experience is seamless and considered. Suprian is from Osi Island in West Seram, around 250km from Misool, but part of his home is here on Batbitim island. "We all become like family," he says of life at Misool. "And here I've learned how to protect nature and marine life." When he is not working, he is studying English, always looking for more ways to take personal pride in his work. If you meet Suprian at the resort, be sure to say hi. He may seem humble, but he plays a huge role in creating the Misool experience.

The underwater world blooms and shimmers. When we dive, we enter another domain, one resplendent with oddities and moments of wonder. Today, we ignore dramatic scenes of schooling barracuda and swooping manta rays and tighten our focus on the textures of the reef. 1. Anemones are much more than clownfish abodes – there are more than 100 species worldwide. This Bubble-tip anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) is not an empty nest, it is a thing of beauty. Photo: Jo Marlow 2 Zoom in closer but be careful not to touch. This is the fin of a lionfish (Pterois sp.) another native species in the Indo Pacific region. It’s marking and colours ask us to heed its warning. Photo: Sangut Santoso 3. Tall towers of quiet green. Chalky, muted, not flashy like its glowing neighbours. Black Sun Coral (Tubastraea micranthus) is a stony coral, that grows like trees, building the reefs as it goes. Photo: Jo Marlow 4. Closed, the saltwater clam (Tridacna sp.) might seem unremarkable, boring perhaps. But when it opens, there is a party going on inside and you are invited. Photo: Sangut Santoso 5. Anchovy clouds (Engraulidae sp.) so dense that the water becomes thick. Lateral lines converse. Their unison and our hypnosis. Photo: Sabine Templeton #Misool #RajaAmpat #Indonesia

Here's a little secret about staying at Misool. The final night of your trip is a tough one. You want to stay, we want you to stay too. It's bitter sweet to say goodbye, so instead we celebrate. Tables are dressed, desserts are piled high and our chefs create a fine feast cooked on the BBQ. Together, we toast to adventure. We believe the details matter. Every moment of your trip should feel special and should be accompanied with great food. #Misool #RajaAmpat #Indonesia 📹 @wanderlust.diver.1984

Baby blacktip reef sharks glide through the shallows at Kalig Beach. Just behind the camera sits the Kalig Ranger Station. Inside, and out on patrol, a dedicated team of full-time Rangers work tirelessly to protect these sharks and the 300,000-acre Misool Marine Reserve they call home. Today, we celebrate the people safeguarding this extraordinary corner of the ocean. Join us in thanking them for all they do. Happy Earth Day #Misool #MisoolFoundation #ProtectWhatYouLove #RajaAmpat
