This photo does not look like much. But at this very moment, it is the single most valuable position I own.
This is the last photo I took in Tehran. Four years ago, the last time I stepped on that soil, I took this photo in moments of uncertainty and anxiety, before going straight to the airport and never going back.
These days, every day, with every new piece of news, something dies inside of me. With every place that crumbles to the ground, every life lost, with every bomb that falls, something dies inside of me; something that held on to hope for years and years. Something that is now almost forgetting how my mother‘s hair smells like or how my sister tells stories while she’s laughing. Something that is lost between two worlds, torn between becoming what I wanted to become and every human, every alley, every smell and every sound that I left behind to get there.
This one is not about politics. It’s about every cell of my body craving to leave immediately and to go back, even if under bombs, to relive it all again. To hug my mother and never let go, while my sister tells me a funny story. But instead, I have to keep dying a little, every day, every hour, every minute and every single bitter second.

A Talk by Misagh Azimi:
SONGS FOR MY CHATBOT: Generative AI, Music, and Conditioned Stochasticity
In this talk Misagh Azimi examines the rapid rise of generative AI in music and its cultural, environmental, and economic implications. Surveying today’s leading music generation systems, he traces the politics, carbon costs, and extractive data practices embedded in their development. The talk also addresses emerging tensions around copyright, royalties, and artistic labor, and proposes interventionist strategies through which musicians can critically engage with and reclaim agency within generative systems.
Misagh Azimi is an Iranian-German interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work spans composition, production, and the exploration of creative digital technologies. He composes primarily for stage and visual media, and as a performing musician produces and releases music through his own online label, Warm Mud Records. Azimi is also the creator of Fragmenta, an open-source AI software for generating experimental music.

A lot has changed since then, yet the technofeudal infrastructure powering the exploitation of years of human musical expression stays the same.
The AI bubble will definitely pop at some point, but the damage done to the artists‘ intellectual property and livelihoods will be significant. There is still a lot of work to be done.

It has been a while for me doing extended live shows. An international move to the other side of the world and doing a PhD and working have been my major focus in the past year and a half.
Getting back at it couldn’t be more exciting, as I am doing it amongst friends. Invited by my buddy @unregistered_master_builder and an old friend @paymanmey , we are going to do some shows in Brisbane at the amazing @kepk_space . I am thankful and excited.
