Have you ever wondered what would happen if blackened crust bands were also really into synthesizers? Have you considered how awesome breakneck, byzantine riffs are?
Toronto’s duo in Mirror Neuron deliver blackened death metal with hints of crust and hardcore all backed up by just enough synthesizer to make it feel a little proggy, but not in a bad way. Trust me. Go spin their full length record while you peep the article on NJAP.

A selection of slams from our debut album. Now let’s open up that fucking pit 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 #deathmetal #metal #hardcorepunk #torontometal #slam #breakdown
Our album cover is a piece called “Dante and Virgil in the 4th circle of hell” by @justyna_koziczak .
We’ve loved Justyna’s work for awhile, especially taking note of her work for @whollydoomedblackmetal . The piece we wanted for our album takes us back to classic 70s/80s prog covers, yet has this ominous and uncomfortable vibe that is appropriate for death metal.
We wanted something that felt “classic”, yet tongue in cheek to go with the overall theme of the record. Two figures relaxing and staring out at the spectacle of literal hell felt right for that.
