We were entrained with the pulse of our mothers blood pulsing through her arteries while we we fetuses In her womb. The pulse imprinted into our body, brains, blood and bones. Our soundtrack of our first home and our time of living in literal oneness To drum is to come home to become one with our drum The drum, a voice of the mother The voice of the womb The voice of the heart The voice of the rhythm of life. #layneredmond #framedrum #framedrumming #womenframedrumming #womb

The first sound we ever hear is the sound of our mother‘s blood pulsing through her arteries while we were fetus in the womb. The womb our first home, our time of oneness where our blood bones and body were imprinted with this pulse. The drum is the echo of that ongoing pulse of our time of oneness in the womb. When we drum, we become one with our drum and the pulse. To drum is to come home To drum is to remember To remember together is heaven I am always transported when drumming and singing with others to the experience that we’ve done this for many lifetimes. We offered our rhythms and voice for unity, harmony, and peace in the world. We feed this prayer with each immersion. Beautiful to share the space with beautiful souls. Thank you. @raha__show for your soulful weaving of voice for this prayer. Ariadne was known as the Goddess of the labyrinth. Her priestesses played the frame drum. Wonderful to discover this connection reading the book. When the Drummers Were Women by Layne Redmond Thank you to each beautiful soul who arrived to gather around The Voice of the Drum

It's rare to find a time to gather with the drum to commune in rhythm, in song, to learn, to study and feel the rhythmic vibrations together with others. We get to remember we are connected to something ancient as well as remember the first rhythm we heard, our mothers blood pulsing through her arteries while we were fetuses in the womb. The womb our first home, our time of oneness. We entrained and were imprinted with our mothers pulse into our body, brain, blood and bones. When we drum we in a sense recreate the entrainment to our pulses of our drum. We become one with our drum. We come home. We not only hold a drum, we hold all it represents. We give voice to it, just by holding and playing. We restore it's voice with each stroke. We revive it's voice Nothing like doing this together, to feel and hear the vibrations of multiple drums. The drum is a voice the voice of the mother the voice of the womb the voice of creation the voice of the heart the voice of unity the voice of harmony The drum is a voice The voice of the earth The voice of the waters The voice of fire and air * * * * * * Each gathering, creates new connections. We are each in the right place, at the right time, with the right combination of people. We have a beautiful group of souls joining from LA and locally in San Diego. 3 spots open Spring Mini Frame Drum Immersion Voice of the Drum Special guest offering medicine of flute @lilawatermann Sat. Celebrating upcoming 14 yr anniversary of Dragonfly composition & video launch April 22 2012. Online Frame Drum Workshop An Introduction to Dragonfly Stories behind song, composition & video Learn part 1 & 2 of Introduction :: A song already a decade old before it got recorded thanks to the initiation of @tony moss I just came back from a walking adventure in Peru and bam hit the ground running with music recording session already scheduled, meetings for visioning with a team and all fell into place. It was an amazing experience to film this music video. Editing was generously volunteered over a 1 year period with keeping to the vision thanks to @herbertbennettedits and Tony. "Dragonfly" is my expression of devotion for the frame drum and all it symbolizes. It is also my way to pay tribute to the rich history, tradition, and lineage of women frame drum players past, as well as present and future. Dragonfly is a symbol of transformation, a song of remembrance, the language of the heart. 2021 I taught my first group the whole song that took 9 weeks. First time ever to hear others play it on frame drum. It was exciting. They were invited to make a video snippet so there is a playlist out there. :: The first to finish and make a video of learning the song was Kadambari Maa a kirtan frame drum singer and the 2nd was my niece, a natural. :: Video stills are compilations of slide photos from Layne Redmond's collection she contributed. :: Dragonfly art at the end of the video by @soul_wind_feather who was the first to learn the structure of the song and first to perform it with me. :: Still of the women frame drum teachers I currently knew in 2011. Layne Redmond Dana Maman Marla Leigh Judith Cohen Alessandra Belloni Judy Piazza Rowan Storm :::::::::::::: Live recorded workshop now available Learn part 1 & 2 of the Introduction. Spontaneous welcoming song for the OPENING online Workshop Gather Round the Tambourine Exploring Rhythms in Ten * * * * * * * * * * The first workshop I ever took with Layne Redmond my late teacher was on a middle eastern style tambourine. How it all unfolded was magical. I first went to her slideshow presentation and performance called "When the Drummers Were Women" It was a homecoming and a remembrance. I knew I had to learn the frame drum and that she had to be my teacher. It was life changing. I took her workshop and never stopped drumming except for the time I was caretaking my mom. Now I am honored to be teaching since 1999 with Layne's nudging. It never crossed my mind to teach as I thought I had no business teaching. She kept telling me I should teach. I said no as I'd rather have everyone study with her. She didn't live in California and would travel here. One time after teaching a workshop she asked all the participants. "Who wants to continue studying?" Many raised their hands. She then says " Ok talk to Miranda, she teaches" I was shocked because I wasn't teaching and had no plans to teach. 1999 I began to teach my friends so that I could have people to practice with to prepare myself to go to her 6 month Intensive called Giving Birth To Myself where you meet once a month for the whole weekend.. The next thing I knew my friends were stepping, drumming and reciting the drum strokes. So I thought I might as well begin offering it out to the public at least once a month. I then created my signature Heart of Frame Drumming Introduction that included vocal weaving and song. When you studied with Layne you are trained in upright position stepping, drumming and reciting patterns. You are also trained in the lapstyle and trained on the tambourine. I learned my first combination of rhythms in ten with her while having to step. So it's lovely to be revisiting this time signature. Grateful she saw my potential and kept telling me I should teach. I love teaching. This tambourine is also her signature tambourine called the lotus tambourine in collaboration with Remo #tambourine #lotustambourine #framedrum #layneredmond

Weaving the pulse of the earth : A body percussion and voice journey workshop as part of @created.by.sound It was an all day event of sound, music, song, offerings and workshops celebrating spring and creation. The setting was on the beautiful sanctuary land of @ourbutterflymountain A magical day under the sun among trees, gardens, beautiful spaces in nature in the mountains of Topanga, CA. So many beautiful souls and soul nourishing music. In our session, we offered our voices to the land with our walking pulse and hands pulsing on our hearts. Affirming we are rhythm and singers by birthright. We each have our own signature sound frequency that is medicinal for ourselves and a gift for offerings. Our voice a portal for our expression, creativity, devotion, prayers, intentions and offerings. We are unlimited creativity with hundreds of songs waiting to be birthed whether it is sung only once or a keeper. We experienced simple spontaneous sound offerings. Each one blessed one another in spontaneous language and song around a circle. Each created in the moment their own spontaneous call and response offerings. We sang affirmations and the song I Feel the Earth Beneath My Feet. Everyone was invited to continue making spontaneous song offerings daily. So wonderful to have past drum students, old friends and new join together in one pulse and voice. #framedrum #song #chant #offerings #spontaneity #motherearth #spring #sing

Spring Awakening Lyrics and melody to a song that came in spring * A song honoring the earth seasons of spring, our own awakening and the re-emergence of the frame drum in these modern times. * Spring speaks of renewal, rebirth and new beginnings. It speaks of restoration and reviving. Reclaiming new life, the seed of something once dormant, lost or taken away. It speaks as a time to rejoice, a time to revere and remember our divine source. For me also...... A time to remember our soul, our spirit, our creative self, our eternal selves. A time to wake up out of our slumber of living in separation, A time to wake up out of our old programing, old stories that don't serve. A time to remember we are one planetary family on our mother earth that we are part of. It is also for me the re-emergence of the voice fo the drum birthing in these contemporary times. The voice of the mother, the womb, the first sound we ever hear. The voice of the rhythms of life of mother earth. To drum is to come home over and over again. The drum is tool of remembrance. Reminding us we are a part of the circle of life and cycles of nature. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 🌱 🐝🥀 Grateful to offer a 3 week online frame drum series Spring Awakening Weaving Rhythms and Voice featuring the song and theme Spring Awakening.
