🎉 My movie is going to Hollywood for SLAMDANCE! 🎉 It’s time for the North American premiere: In February 2025, "Ignore Your True Feelings at Your Own Peril” will travel beyond Germany to Los Angeles, where it will compete across the entire Slamdance Film Festival selection, and also in the Unstoppable program. Thank you, @slamdancegroup ! 💜 While I'm excited for "Ignore Your True Feelings" to screen at a festival that has launched some of my favorite directors, the premiere of this film in the U.S., the country of my birth, has a deeper resonance: The film is no longer just a documentation of my own experience—it is also a portrait of a relatively functional foreign healthcare system. The U.S. health insurance industry is hellish and cruel, and while the German system is not perfect, I have lived and been sick in both countries—as a student, as an employee, and as a freelancer—and the difference is absolutely mind-blowing. "Ignore Your True Feelings" could never have been made in the U.S.: I’d have been too worried about my deductible, whether insurance would cover my hospital stay, and how long it would take to pay off the bills, in order to fully heal from having been unwell. There is currently a major conversation taking place in the U.S. on this topic. I hope that my film and I can contribute to this larger movement pushing for change. Thank you again to our team! Die Protagonistin kotzt und kotzt und kotzt. Sie kotzt so viel, dass es annähernd unerträglich wird dem zu folgen. Zum Glück findet die Protagonistin den Weg zur psychiatrischen Behandlung, wo sie medikamentös eingestellt wird und erkennt, dass sie ihre Gefühle nicht ignorieren darf, was das letzte Puzzlestück für ihre bipolaren Episoden symbolisiert.
