My two worlds really collided today! My love for vintage Black history and my love for film. 🖤 I had the opportunity to shoot an interview for the legendary radio personality Russ Parr @russparrshow @majicdc and the iconic director Spike Lee @officialspikelee … and it took me full circle. My love for storytelling started with films like Crooklyn, Do the Right Thing, and Malcolm X. And School Daze? That film celebrated Go-Go, spotlighted E.U. and Suga Bear, and introduced so many of us to the HBCU experience. It stuck with me so much that when I got to Hampton 💙⚓️University, our freshman week was School Daze-themed. (We really made it work with what we had back in 2014 as you can see from the photo 😂) After graduating, and specifically during the pandemic I started the Lean on Mi Scholarship, selling vintage HBCU apparel to fund laptop and gift basket giveaways for DC students heading to HBCUs. That journey deepened my love for collecting pieces of Black history you can actually wear. So when I found this vintage “E.U. Doin’ Da Butt” shirt… I knew this Uptown girl had to have it. !! I’m excited to share that I’ve been selected as a 2025 McCloy Fellow on Global Trends ✨ This opportunity brings me back to Berlin🇩🇪 , a place that deeply shaped my perspective during my time as a Fulbright Germany Fellow. That experience showed me just how expansive storytelling can be when we look beyond borders. This summer for a month, I’ll be returning to Berlin to report on my research project: “Beyond Borders: Echoes of Audre Lorde in Afro-German Activism and Identity Amid the Rise of the Far Right.” My work will explore the Afro-German experience through a historical, cultural, and activist lens, with a focus on Berlin as a hub for this community. At the center of this story is Audre Lorde’s lasting impact—particularly her work alongside writers like May Ayim and Katharina Oguntoye, which helped spark the Afro-German movement and redefine Black identity in Germany. I’ll be examining how that legacy continues today through organizations building community, challenging systemic racism, and shaping what it means to be Afro-German in a shifting political climate. I’m grateful for the continued support from my Radio One DC family and excited to bring this reporting back home to the DC community. And always remember: God will make room for your gifts. ♥️

Another level unlocked, and I don’t take it lightly. I’m grateful to hit this milestone covering and filming the backstage, behind-the-scenes experience of the R&B Live Experience Tour. It was dope to be behind the scenes to see where the magic happens, capturing the calm before the storm. That’s the part people don’t always see, but it means everything. Shoutout to 93.9 WKYS’s very own Aladdin Da Prince @aladdindaprince , my fellow Banneker Bulldog, for bringing the energy and for teaching me the ropes along the way. Sharing space with legends and timeless voices like Tank, SWV, Tamar Braxton, Ginuwine, Lloyd, Silk, and H-Town made it even more special. Moments like this remind me why I started. Today, I’m giving myself my flowers 💐! Sometimes you have to take the time and look back at ALL of what you’ve accomplished. I’ve officially made it to 6 months as an Online Editor at Radio One DC—and this milestone means more to me than words can fully capture. From October to February, the growth tells a bigger story 📊 Across five brands, we increased our total audience from 215K to 251K monthly unique visitors—a +17% jump and +36K new users tapping in. Even after seasonal dips, we continued to outperform baseline, proving this is about long-term growth, not just viral moments. And I couldn’t have hit those numbers without the amazing talent, jocks, DJs, programming team, and sales team I work with everyday. But beyond the numbers, this role has stretched me in every direction. From producing 50+ pieces of video (& counting lol ) and audio content to filming and clipping 30+ interviews—from celebrity conversations to community voices to award shows. All while managing content across five distinct brands (93.9 WKYS, Majic 102.3, Praise 92.7, Spirit 1340, and WOL DC News), each with its own tone and audience. ♥️ I’ve created contests, social graphics, app alerts for breaking news, and coverage around everything from winter storms to DC mayoral races to cultural moments happening in the city. This role demands you to be an editor, videographer, reporter, social producer, and trend detector—all at once. And if I’m honest, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is this: you can’t please everyone. - signed a former people pleaser lol 😂 So I give myself an abundance of grace. I also learned do the best you can with the resources you have. Focus on making a positive impact and a small difference where you can. There’s always room to grow, but I’m proud of how I’ve shown up—solution-oriented, consistent, and committed—through every challenge. This season taught me to pour into myself and stop being so hard on myself for not doing it all. Today, I celebrate the growth, the lessons, and the journey. Here’s to continuing to evolve, create, and grow. One day at a time ✨

Wow! What a day! Not many things can get me out of bed at 8 a.m. on a Saturday, but for an NABJ @nabjofficial event I will make an exception lol. My day at the 2026 National Association of Black Journalists Media Related Institute @nabjmrm was incredible. It was a day full of learning, networking, and reinvigorating myself for the week ahead. Today’s theme was so fitting, “From Disruption to Opportunity.” Panels covered everything from pivoting in the industry, to covering local and national elections, to using AI tools to enhance storytelling, not replace it. I learned so much and that is exactly why I show up to as many events as I can. Every NABJ event feels like a family reunion. You run into folks from your school, previous jobs, and mentors, and the new connections are always just as vital. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the DC chapter @wabjdc I’m so grateful I chose this career. Being a journalist is an honor and I am thankful for everyone who paved the way for me. Please continue supporting independent media and journalists during a time of misinformation and disinformation. We have your back and deeply care about the communities we serve. I cannot wait to see y’all in ATL for the convention! 💕 Thank you so much to the organizers and panelists who made today possible.

Whew! Yall I’m still recovering from the Boys 4 Life tour! Is this what 30 feels like? lol No, but seriously it was so great to see some of my faves from back in the day perform. Bow Wow, B2K, Amerie, Pretty Ricky, Dem Franchise Boys, B5, Young Joc, they all did they thing! And don’t yall ever forget millennials know hot to party! I remember my first scream tour in 2005. ( And if you scroll through you may see that picture 👀😂). I needed this night full of nostalgia.
