Min Xiao-Fen (@minxiaofen ) and Julian Kytasty (@juliankytasty ) brought the world premiere of Boundless to the David Rubenstein Atrium—a spellbinding musical creation where Eastern musical worlds converge! 🎶✨
The evening featured world-class pipa and bandura playing, melding Chinese and Ukrainian musical traditions into a bold, genre-defying soundscape.

“Asian Soundscapes” continues to be such a joy to bring to life alongside these incredible artists 💫: Min Xiao-Fen, Mari Ohta, and Amy Xin Yin. Blending pipa, koto, and contemporary percussion 🪕🥁, we explored a musical landscape inspired by the beauty of the Appalachians ⛰️🍃—where ancient traditions meet modern expression 🌏➡️🎼, and each moment flows with its own sense of balance, emotion, and drama 🌊
Grateful for the collaboration 🤝, the energy in the room 🔥, and the chance to share this journey of sound 💖🎵
Here’s to many more ✨🙌
Only three days left! Join “Asian Soundscapes” as we celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse at The White Horse on the 27th. “The trio bridges tradition and innovation, guiding listeners through a landscape where past and present sing as one.” Thanks to Laura Denon for her positive review in Transylvania Times of our “Asian Soundscapes” performance at Transylvania County Library yesterday. I’m also grateful to Derek Nelson for presenting the show.
Our next performances will be on the 18th at Western Carolina University and on March 27th at White Horse Black Mountain.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day alongside the spirit of the Fire Dragon and Lunar New Year, bringing together pipa, Sanxian, Ruan, koto, and percussion in a journey across traditions and sounds inspired by nature and the mountains around us. 🐉🧧
So thankful to see over a hundred friends and community members filling the room — the energy and warmth in the Rogow Community Room were amazing. Truly good vibes all around. 🙌❤️
Thank you to everyone who joined us and @tclibrarync made this performance so special! And! Malletkat is much easier to move than a vibraphone! 😉
