In my practice, I invoke the ad hoc as a profound form of parasitical resistance—an act of subversion against the engineered, hegemonic forces that seek to colonize perception, discourse, and ultimately, consciousness itself. This approach recognizes that these dominant systems—entrenched within neoliberal architectures, technological infrastructures, and ideological narratives operate through superficial immediacy, targeting primal urges and surface-level effects to maintain control. By embracing spontaneous, impromptu methodologies rooted in the ad hoc, I reappropriate this superficiality, transforming fleeting effects into fertile sites for deeper reflection, collective awakening, and critical engagement. This parasitical stance involves a deliberate infiltration into the space of hegemonic narratives, akin to a living parasite adapting from within. Instead of outright rejection, this process involves a strategic and creative symbiosis transforming the very mechanisms of control into portals for alternative perception. Through the creation of hybrid objects and ephemeral spaces, I challenge conventional notions of linear timelines and fixed meanings, emphasizing fluidity, divergence, and emergence. These artifacts act as luminous portals interstitial spaces where time becomes a malleable substance, and perception blooms into luminous potentiality. In the intricate dance of Redreaming Technics, where ecology intertwines with economics, the process channels the philosophies of psychohistory and biology, serving as a mirror to inner consciousness akin to the evolution of life itself—a perpetual emergence, divergence, and convergence of ideas. This narrative embodies an unforeseen confluence of logics, weaving together diverse materials rather than creating anew. As I gaze inward, confronting my own biases and grieving the loss of friends, freedom, and the profound impacts of anthropogenic factors, this introspective journey becomes part of the tapestry. This hybrid landscape serves as a speculative space where the boundaries between life, matter, and machine dissolve under the weight of their own entanglements.Through “Redreaming Technics”, I want to provoke a reconsideration of our relationship to the non-human, to technological detritus, and to the computational landscapes that shape our realities. By merging these with poetic and disquieting aesthetics, I aim to articulate a theory of relational being—one that stretches across the cosmos, psyche, and society. My work asks: How might we rethink value, production, and reproduction in an age where our embeddedness within planetary systems becomes ever more apparent? This speculative dreamworld is not an escape. It is a confrontation—a space for improvisation, where I invite you to dwell in the liminal, to embrace uncertainty, and to imagine futures hidden within the fractures of the present. Venue: CCA Lab Moderated by James Ly CCA OpenLab is excited to welcome Andy Wauman, a professional new media artist and founder of the collective Copyplanet, for our second panel talk of the year. Known for his poetic yet rebellious approach, Wauman has transitioned from contemporary art into new media, continuously pushing the boundaries of expression. In this session, Wauman will share insights into his evolving practice, focusing on how his work emerges not from art-historical or theoretical frameworks, but from personal protest and social principles. His art transforms everyday materials and symbols into powerful statements, reclaiming their lost poetic essence. Wauman has exhibited internationally, with solo shows at Deweer Gallery (2006, 2009, 2012, 2016), Art Statements Gallery in Tokyo and Hong Kong, and Bourouina Gallery in Berlin. His work has also been featured in The Underground School of Contemporary Art (Antwerp, 2016), Winter Harvest (Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, 2017), and Het Vlot. Art is (not) lonely (Mu.ZEE, 2017). His 2018 exhibition In Defence of Poetry in Malaysia reflected his commitment to art as a form of resistance.
