For Mint’s 10th season, the Artistic Directors were inspired by Mint’s journey as a team, and how we have found our new voice while still staying true to the principles Mint was founded and created around.
Through Kendrick Lamar’s song ‘i,’ we created a piece that expresses both our individual journeys toward self-love and our shared identity and love as a team.
Each choreographer created with this story in mind, and it was up to them whether they wanted to highlight the lows or the highs that come in a self love journey. We know that the journey is never linear, and the music and movement highlights this as well.
As ADs, it is extremely important to us that we not only choose music that tells a story, but that allows our choreographers and team members to shine. Our set this season incorporated some amazing forms such as house, hip hop, yeeking, and waacking/punking, all brought to life through our talented choreographers and dancers.

While you wait, take a look back at our Prelude East Coast set 💚
This piece was all about joy, the kind that dance brings into our lives. The way it shapes us, connects us, and creates something deeper than just movement.
This set was also a tribute to the modern UK soul and funk scene shaped by Inflo, pulling from works by Little Simz, SAULT, and Ezra Collective. We leaned into the rich grooves and spiritual energy of the music, letting it move us from the inside out. Each section was rooted in feeling, an invitation to let go, be present, and experience the kind of release that only music and movement can bring. I seriously can’t even begin to express my love for this team and every single person on it. I auditioned for mint after having a serious dance-identity crisis and questioning if I should continue. The amount of love and support I’ve experienced on this team not only revitalized my joy for dance but opened my eyes to the true power of community it can create. Love yall🥹
