After fixing thousands of these cameras, we finally got fed up with having to clean the lens for every single Polaroid SX-70 we service. You clean it once, and then there’s a new fingerprint. A new fungus in the corner. It can never be restored to true “factory condition”.
And with every cleaning, no matter how careful, a very thin layer of coating comes off.
To make matters worse, we noticed the lenses were deteriorating compared to 10 years ago. Time really takes a toll.
So one day, we thought: Why don’t we just design a new one? A better one?
That’s exactly what we did.
Now every SHARPA™ lens is mold-free, haze-free, and scratch-free, with 7 layers of fresh multi-coating.
