Guys, my new cushions will make you all go wild 🤩
I spent the past few months getting inspired by saucy little scaffolds, shadows, chimneys and all the colours a winter sky can offer. 🤍🩵💛🧡
In December I started weaving an experimental warp to see how the different stripes behave with the same weave structure. It turned out to be the best decision I had in a while as it’s now serving me with well needed inspiration for the foreseeable future.
I’m still determined to learn as many new techniques as possible, but I might spend some time exploring deflected double weave deeper 🌞

In September last year I went for an inspiring talk with @john_booth at @floor_story showroom in Shoreditch. It was great to hear about John’s story and how important it is to stay playful and how much he doesn’t like rendering anything to perfection. His talk really broke down some walls for me as previously I was so insecure about my sketchbooks, the thought that I have to perfectly render every piece took the fun out of playing with colour and material.
After the talk we could create our dream rug design by collaging with a chance to win a rug. There was some cake on display too for us to try so I spent the majority of my time eating cake and chatting the time away. In the last 5 minutes I sticked down whatever I had cut out and entered to the competition. (Swipe to see my surprised face, obviously still eating cake 😅)
Every collage turned out so beautiful and inspiring, it was really interesting to see everyone’s approach to the task😍
The whole day inspired me to keep collaging and experimenting. As a weaver I found it challenging to move away from the grid like repetition and create something more abstract - I’m getting there now! The final piece definitely reflects on John’s talk with the playful positioning of uneven shapes.
A month later the team of Floor Story invited me for a consultation to finalise the design. I had such an amazing time selecting the colours and chatting the morning away with Bekah and Gill and the rug was delivered last week 💃🏻
